Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Cuvée Anonyme 2024 by Xavier Vignon
Tasting notes
Colour
The wine shows a brilliant golden hue, crystal clear to the eye.
Nose
The nose opens with notes of citrus and white fruit, enriched by subtle sweet spice, lavender and honey.
Palate
The palate is elegant, driven by a crisp freshness from white fruit and citrus. The wine closes with a long, mineral finish.
Food and wine pairing
This cuvée is an ideal match for seafood such as tuna or salmon tartare, as well as scallops. It also pairs beautifully with a mature cheese such as truffled Brie, a spiced fish dish such as cod, or white meats served with a mushroom sauce.
Serving and cellaring
The Cuvée Anonyme 2024 is best served at a temperature between 8 and 10°C. This wine, which will develop favourably over the next two to five years, can be kept until around 2032.
A white Châteauneuf-du-Pape balancing tradition and freshness, by Xavier Vignon
The estate
Founded in 2005 between Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Beaumes-de-Venise, Maison Xavier Vignon is now run by its founder, Xavier Vignon, a consulting oenologist trained in Montpellier who also worked in Champagne. He owns 35 hectares of vines on the finest terroirs of the Dentelles de Montmirail, in the Rhône Valley, and continues to work as a consultant for numerous estates in the region. The Maison crafts its cuvées with boldness and creativity, with respect for the terroir, and distributes its wines in more than thirty countries.
The vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from very low-yielding old vines in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, planted in part as "vignes de collection", where several white grape varieties grow side by side in keeping with local tradition. The selected plots lie on limestone and sandy soils, characterised by very early ripening.
The vintage
The Roussanne of this vintage was harvested very early, from the end of August 2024, and at a low temperature, in order to preserve high acidity.
Winemaking and ageing
For the Cuvée Anonyme 2024, the Clairette and Grenache Blanc are fermented at a low temperature to preserve their minerality, then aged in stainless steel tanks. The Roussanne, meanwhile, is aged for four months in oak barrels, with regular lees stirring.
Grape varieties
The blend is composed of 40% vignes de collection, 30% Grenache Blanc, 20% Clairette and 10% Roussanne.
