Characteristics and tasting tips for Y 2024

    Tasting

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet is remarkably subtle. It first reveals refined herbaceous notes of chervil, bay laurel and lemon or blackcurrant leaves, then opens onto vibrant fruity aromas of yellow grapefruit, orange and clementine zest, all crowned by delicate floral hints of lily of the valley and lilac.

    Palate
From the attack, this wine is lively and wonderfully fresh. Its vibrant, delicate expression favours elegance over power and is underpinned by superb tension. The long, lingering finish offers perfect harmony and a lovely saline dimension.

    Food and wine pairings
This great white wine pairs beautifully with noble, firm-fleshed fish such as turbot or sea bass, served with a creamy lemon butter sauce. It also elevates raw seafood dishes of Japanese or Peruvian inspiration, as well as salads of bitter greens and citrus fruits. Finally, it is an ideal match for cooked pressed cheeses.

The elegance of a great dry white Bordeaux by Château d'Yquem

    The estate
Located in the heart of the Bordeaux region, Château d'Yquem is a true legend whose history as a wine estate dates back to 1593, when the rights were granted to Jacques Sauvage. The only estate ranked Premier Cru Supérieur in the 1855 Classification, this jewel covers around 113 hectares. Today, this prestigious name belongs to the LVMH group, which upholds a tradition of excellence. Under the technical direction of Lorenzo Pasquini, the estate continues to shine through its uncompromising standards, producing legendary sweet wines as well as a great dry white of rare precision.

    The vineyard
The exceptional terroir that gives rise to this wine, a true benchmark among dry white Bordeaux wines, rests on a complex geological mosaic that combines warm gravel mounds with a clay subsoil ensuring excellent water reserves. The estate benefits from the unique microclimate of the Ciron valley. Deeply committed to protecting the environment, the property devotes half of its land to biodiversity, with forests and meadows. The vineyard, farmed without any chemical weedkillers and worked mechanically, has been certified organic since 2022.

    The vintage
2024 stood out for its cool climate and great complexity, shaped by particularly contrasting weather. Despite these uncertain and demanding conditions, the growing season produced a vintage marked by classicism, balance and great finesse. The harvest was carried out with precision between 20 August and 21 September.

    Winemaking and ageing
To craft Y 2024, the bunches are picked before noble rot has fully developed. The juice is then carefully vinified in stainless steel tanks, with malolactic fermentation blocked to preserve all of the wine's tension. Ageing continues on the lees in French oak barrels, some of which previously held the estate's great sweet wine, lending subtle complexity to the final blend.

    Grape varieties
This wine is a blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon.
