The elegance of a great wine by Antinori - Pian Delle Vigne in Tuscany

    The estate

Acquired and officially established under its current entity in 1995, the Pian delle Vigne estate embodies the excellence of the Antinori family in Tuscany. Located six kilometres south-west of Montalcino, this estate covers 184 hectares. Today chaired by Albiera Antinori, who heads the renowned family brand Marchesi Antinori, the property stands out for its architecture that respects the landscape and its commitment to producing wines that reflect the purity and vibrant elegance of this exceptional terroir.

    The vineyard

The vineyard dedicated to the production of this Brunello di Montalcino covers an area of 65 hectares. Located at an altitude of 130 metres above sea level, the vines benefit from a mainly south-west facing exposure. They thrive on clay-limestone soils rich in fine gravel, providing ideal conditions for the qualitative development of the grapes.

    The vintage

The year began with a mild winter with low rainfall. Late pruning helped to delay budburst, effectively protecting the vines from the cold snap that occurred on 7 April. The summer was hot and dry, followed by light rains at the end of August that brought cooler temperatures. These climatic conditions favoured a slow and gradual ripening of the berries until the harvest, which took place in the second half of September, yielding perfectly healthy grapes.

    Vinification and ageing

After manual harvesting, destemming and gentle crushing, fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks. Skin maceration lasted approximately 12 days at a controlled temperature of 28 °C. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged for two years in large oak casks with a capacity ranging from 30 to 80 hectolitres. Additional ageing in the bottle completed its elaboration before its release on the market.

    Grape variety

    Sangiovese (100%).
