The estate
Founded in the late 2000s by the Picard family, the Au Pied du Mont Chauve estate embodies the revival of winegrowing in Burgundy. Led by Francine Picard, this property extends over approximately 35 hectares of vines spread across prestigious terroirs. Driven by an environmentally respectful philosophy, the director has intensified biodynamic practices to enhance the quality of the soils. The estate stands out for its meticulous plot-by-plot approach, conceived as a true haute couture selection, in order to produce wines that faithfully reflect the richness of their terroirs.
The vineyard
This Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chaumées comes from vines with an average age of 40 years, planted mid-slope on a brown soil rich in white limestone. This very steep winegrowing area is almost devoid of topsoil, causing water stress during periods of intense heat.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
