    Description

A generous and refined second wine from Margaux

    The property
The Château Brane-Cantenac, a historic estate in the Margaux appellation, was given its name in 1833 when Jacques-Maxime de Brane, nicknamed "Napoleon of the Vines", acquired it. Classified as a Second Growth in 1855, the estate has belonged to the Lurton family since Léonce Récapet assumed leadership in 1925. Today managed by Henri Lurton, this vineyard, replanted predominantly with cabernet sauvignon, produces wines of remarkable elegance thanks to its unique gravelly terroir.

    The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Brane-Cantenac benefits from an exceptional terroir located in the heart of the Margaux appellation. The siliceous and clayey gravel soils on the Cantenac plateau provide ideal conditions for the expression of Bordeaux varietals, imparting the finesse and elegance so characteristic of the appellation's great growths.

    The vintage
The 2024 vintage was marked by contrasting climatic conditions. A mild and very rainy winter promoted early and uniform bud break. The wet spring stimulated vine growth with a successful flowering. Summer brought high water stress accompanied by cool nights, allowing optimal aromatic and phenolic synthesis. The capricious conditions of September and October required harvests of great precision.

    Blend

As the property's second wine, this Baron de Brane 2024 is the result of a Blend of cabernet sauvignon (50%) and merlot (50%).
