An Argentine white wine expressing the purity of Mendoza's high-altitude terroirs

The Estate

Founded in 1902 by Italian immigrant Nicola Catena, Bodega Catena Zapata spans several vineyards in Mendoza, including the prestigious Adrianna vineyard at 1,400 meters altitude. Now led by Laura Catena, the fourth generation of the family, the estate continues the legacy of her father Nicolás Catena Zapata, a pioneer in high-altitude viticulture. Renowned for its scientific approach with the Catena Institute and its six vineyards studied plot by plot, it primarily cultivates malbec, chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, and cabernet franc. Named "World's Best Wine Estate" in 2023, it is distinguished by its iconic pyramid architecture and exceptional terroirs.

The Vineyard

"Catena Alta" is a wine from Mendoza made from a selection of plots from the Adrianna and Domingo vineyards. The vines grow on alluvial soils composed of clay and sand, at altitudes between 1,120 and 1,450 meters. These exceptional altitude conditions give the wine its aromatic purity and distinctive minerality.

Winemaking and Aging

Aging for 10 to 14 months is carried out in French oak barrels on lees, using first, second, and third-use barrels. This method preserves the pure expression of the grape while adding complexity and structure to the wine.

Grape Variety

100% Chardonnay.
