The estate

Owned by the Sogrape group, one of the largest producers of Portuguese wines, Casa Ferreirinha embodies excellence. Founded in the 18th century by Bernardo Ferreira, this house has built a reputation thanks to its in-depth knowledge of the Douro vineyard and the quality of its wines. Renowned internationally, Casa Ferreirinha was the first Portuguese estate to produce unfortified red wines from the Douro.

The wine

Casa Ferreirinha's Callabriga cuvée is a Douro wine which, through its intensity and elegance, reflects Casa Ferreirinha's passion for crafting great Portuguese wines.

Winemaking and aging

This wine comes from grapes harvested on plots of Quinta da Leda and the surrounding vineyards. Gentle destemming and crushing precede vinification in stainless steel tanks, with a delicate maceration. Aging, lasting approximately 12 months, takes place 75% in used French oak barrels and 25% in new American oak barrels. The wine is not filtered before bottling.
