Casamigos Tequila: where passion and friendship meet
Casamigos Tequila was founded in 2013 by George Clooney, Rande Gerber, and Mike Meldman, initially for their personal enjoyment. The name means “house of friends.” Since June 2017, the brand has been owned by Diageo. Produced in Jalisco with 100% blue Weber agave, Casamigos stands out for its exceptional artisanal methods: 72 hours of cooking in traditional ovens and 80 hours of fermentation, compared with just a few hours in standard production. This approach gives this Mexican Tequila a subtle, balanced flavor profile, rewarded with two gold medals at the World Spirits Award.
Casamigos Reposado: the hallmark of 7 months of aging in American oak barrels
Casamigos Reposado is made from blue Weber agave grown on the high plains of Jalisco, Mexico. The agave piñas are cooked for 72 hours in traditional brick ovens, following ancestral Mexican methods. The spirit then undergoes an 80-hour fermentation—twice as long as that of common tequilas—allowing a more complex and refined aromatic profile to develop.
After distillation, the Reposado is aged for 7 months in American white oak barrels previously used to store prestigious whiskies. This aging gives the tequila its distinctive golden color as well as notes of vanilla, caramel, and toasted wood, while preserving the agave’s natural smoothness.
