    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Recommendations for the Millésimé Brut Collection Crayeres Rosé 1985

    Tasting

    Color
With a beautiful copper-pink hue and adorned with tile-colored highlights, the color stands out with fine and delicate bubbles forming an elegant collar, a sign of subtle and persistent effervescence.

    Nose
The nose reveals notes of candied citrus, dominated by blood orange, then evolves towards deeper spice aromas such as clove and a hint of walnut.

    Palate
The attack is fresh and lively, contrasting with a beautiful power on the palate. The finish, slightly tannic, brings depth and character to the wine.

A Refined and Elegant Rosé Vintage Champagne

    The Estate

As an essential reference, the House of Champagne Charles Heidsieck safeguards a prestigious heritage with millennia-old crayères. A pioneer, Charles Heidsieck stood out in the late 1980s by highlighting the exceptional capacity for aromatic evolution of its multi-vintage Brut champagne. In 1987, Charles Heidsieck became the first Champagne house to indicate the year of “mise en cave” to track the wine’s evolution over time.

    The Vineyard

The House Charles Heidsieck owns a vineyard of approximately 60 hectares in the Marne and the Aube. This vineyard benefits from sustainable viticulture accreditation as well as Haute Valeur Environnementale certification. In addition to its own vineyards and following the Champagne model, Charles Heidsieck meets its needs through long-term supply contracts with rigorously selected winegrowers and cooperatives in Champagne .

    The Wine

From the Oenothèque of the Maison Charles Heidsieck, this Millésimé Brut Collection Crayères 1988 is a rosé champagne rare and delicate, put in cellars in 1986 and disgorged in 2021. Its dosage is 9 g/L.

    The Vintage

This year was exceptional for the harvest, despite severe winter frosts that damaged part of the Champagne vineyard. Sunny weather from early July encouraged a great richness in the grapes, particularly the Chardonnays, which stand out for their maturity, finesse, and elegance. The patience required for the full development of the wines is already perceptible.

    Blend

    Pinot Noir (70 %) and Chardonnay (30 %).
