The NV Extra-Brut Prestige Premier Cru opens with a clear, bright, fresh, complex and slightly smoky bouquet driven by chalky, lemon-scented Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs (70%). These aromas are interwoven with the intensity and juicy fruit of 30% Pinot Noir sourced from Vertus, the Vallée de la Marne and the Montagne de Reims. The wine tasted here is L7173NG31, based on the 2014 vintage (55%) plus 45% reserve wines from the 2010 to 2013 vintages (2% of which was aged in oak barrels). It is a medium-bodied, fresh yet intense, concentrated, fairly complex and persistent Premier Cru with good structure, lingering fruit and grip. Disgorged in June 2017 with a dosage of five grams per liter.

    Decanter

A lovely nose suggests wheatmeal and lemon in a creamy embrace. The palate then sets a bright, ripe lemon top-note and backs this with a lovely, creamy, yeasty, enticingly tart heart of ripe Amalfi lemon zest. The closer you get to the long finish, the creamier this becomes. Altogether rather enticing.

    Falstaff

Pale yellow-green, silver reflections, delicate mousse. Fine yellow tropical fruit, a hint of mango and blossom honey, delicate hints of cookie. Taut, tightly woven, green apple, lively structure, lime on the finish, fresh aperitif style.

    La RVF

An aromatic profile that is wide open, defined by notes of almond and dried fruits. You can sense the patina from the reserve wines, which brings complexity to the wine. The palate has notable breadth and quality; a hint of flavor evolution slightly diminishes the brightness on the finish.

    Description

An exceptional champagne from Maison Duval-Leroy, floral and delicate

    The estate

Located at the tip of the Côte des Blancs in Champagne, Maison Duval-Leroy has made it a point of honor to respect its 3 core values since its creation in 1859: protect, perfect and transmit. Highly committed to the environment, Maison Duval-Leroy offers champagnes that express their terroir and the typicity of each vintage.

Elegance, minerality and brightness define the champagnes of Maison Duval-Leroy, recognized for their great aromatic complexity and structure.

    The vineyard

The vines, with an average age of 35 to 45 years, are HVE level 3 and Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne certified, just like the entire vineyard of Maison Duval-Leroy.

    The wine

The Extra-Brut Prestige Premier Cru is the result of 4 years of harvests between 2010 and 2014. This cuvée is composed of 50% wine from the 2014 harvest and 50% reserve wine from the 2010 to 2013 harvests.

This champagne is presented in a bottle created in 2006 by Maison Duval-Leroy. With its thin neck limiting gaseous exchanges and a brown color preserving the wine from light, this bottle is intended for the highest range wines of the house.

    Vinification and aging

The alcoholic fermentation is carried out with selected yeasts. The malolactic is carried out without fining. Only 2% of the wines are vinified in barrels. The aging in bottles on lees is for a minimum duration of 24 months. The dosage of this cuvée is about 5 g/liter.

    Blend

Chardonnay (65%) and pinot noir (35%).
