Champagne House JL Vergnon Conversation cuvée shows a pale golden robe sprinkled with green glints. It offers an active yet fine effervescence. On the nose, it releases seductive notes of ripe wheat, biscuit, butter and also pear and grapefruit; the whole mixed with a mineral and smoky structure. The taste is straightforward and willowy with a good biting acidity and a firm mouth-feel, without austerity. This Champagne finish is fresh and mineral. It leaves a soft thirst-quenching impression on the palate.
Disgorged in April 2018, the latest release of Vergnon's NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Conversation exhibits a charming nose of coconut biscuits, green apples and ripe lemons. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with racy acids, a youthfully frothy mousse and a pure, chalky finish. While it will improve with a year or two on cork, it's quite open-knit despite its precise style.
