    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the "Le Blanc du Tremble" 2017 cuvée from Marie-Courtin

    Tasting notes

    Colour
Beautifully limpid, the wine reveals a brilliant white hue with luminous highlights.

    Nose
Deep and expressive, the nose reveals delicate notes of white flowers intertwined with fruity aromas of pear and apricot. The warmth of the vintage also brings subtle hints of tropical fruit.

    Palate
Rich and refined, the palate stands out for its lovely phenolic intensity and singular texture. The whole is perfectly balanced by a lively acidity and a deeply mineral, saline backbone.

    Food and wine pairing

Ideal with seafood or oysters, this wine also pairs wonderfully with Asian dishes featuring fresh herbs, lightly caramelised fish, or white meats served with a creamy sauce, such as a veal blanquette.

    Service and storage

Thanks to its lovely freshness and acidity, the "Le Blanc du Tremble" 2017 cuvée has a profile well suited to favourable ageing in bottle over the years.

The unique expression of a great still white wine from the Coteaux Champenois

    The estate

Officially founded in 2005 by Dominique Moreau, who remains its current owner, the Marie-Courtin estate is located in Polisot, in the Côte des Bars, in the southern part of the Champagne wine region. Named after the founder's great-grandmother, a countrywoman deeply connected to the land, this estate stands out for its philosophy, which runs counter to local traditions. Certified organic and biodynamic from its very beginnings, the estate favours single-plot, single-varietal and vintage-dated cuvées, expressing with authenticity and purity the full richness of its terroir.

    The vineyard

This Coteaux Champenois wine comes from a single plot named "Le Tremble". Facing east, which allows the vines to benefit from the morning sun while avoiding excessive afternoon heat, the 40- to 50-year-old vines come from massale selection. They thrive on soils composed of clay and Kimmeridgian limestone, giving the grapes an exceptional minerality.

    The vintage

2017 was marked by a particularly warm growing season across France. In this southern part of Champagne, these mild climatic conditions allowed the berries to reach optimal ripeness without any stress, favouring the expression of generous fruit while retaining lovely freshness.

    Winemaking and ageing

In order to avoid extracting colour from the skins, the grapes destined for the "Le Blanc du Tremble" 2017 cuvée are pressed very gently immediately after the hand harvest. Fermentation is carried out exclusively with indigenous yeasts in two 500-litre amphorae, one made of clay and the other of sandstone. This choice of porous vessels encourages subtle oxygen exchange, bringing additional complexity to the wine.

    Grape variety

    Pinot Noir (100%).
