    Description

The creaminess and freshness of a Premier Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion

    The estate

This Premier Grand Cru Classé takes its name Château Angélus from the winemakers who wished to ring simultaneously the three church bells in the heart of the famous medieval town of Saint-Émilion. This legendary estate of the appellation was founded in 1782 and, for eight generations, the de Boüard de Laforest family has overseen this exceptional heritage on the right bank of Bordeaux.

    The vineyard

Château Angélus is a Saint-Émilion wine from an exceptional terroir whose vines are located on the southern slope of Saint-Émilion. This terroir extends over clay-limestone soils on the upper section and clay-sandy-limestone soils on the hillside.

    The vintage

2015 is a year with ideal conditions throughout the vegetative cycle. Spring was marked by uniform flowering before rainy spells that favored the vineyard’s ideal development. Despite particularly dry conditions in June and July, veraison was optimal. While August, mild and punctuated by welcome rains, promoted optimal berry development, the alternation of sunny days and cool nights during September was ideal for refining ripeness. During the nearly month-long "à la carte" harvest, the sanitary condition of the vineyard was exceptional. The Merlots were ripe and fresh, and the Cabernet Francs charmed with their elegance, density, and silky texture.

Characteristics and Tasting Advice for Château Angélus 2015

    Tasting

    Color
The color is a beautiful inky purple shade.

    Nose
Pure and wonderfully concentrated, the nose reveals aromas of dark fruits (Burlat cherry, blackcurrant) with a subtle freshness. As it aerates, the bouquet becomes more complex, exhaling notes of black fig, cedar, and red rose while preserving a lovely minerality.

    Palate
A precise and refined attack precedes a palate where enveloping, creamy tannins mingle with spicy notes (black pepper). Generous and expressive, the palate extends to a fresh, persistent finish. A sun-drenched vintage that charms with its subtle blend of power, refinement, elegance, and freshness.
