    Description

A lively and delicate red wine from Saint-Estèphe

    The estate

The Château Capbern is a cru from Saint-Estèphe located in the northeast of the appellation. Château Capbern is owned by Château Calon Ségur.

    The vineyard

Château Capbern is a Saint-Estèphe wine from a 38-hectare vineyard, of which 32 hectares are in production. The vines, which are on average 15 years old, are planted on sandy-gravelly, clayey-gravelly and limestone soils.

    Vinification and ageing

Hand harvesting. First control of the grape on the vine. Vibrating destemmer and manual sorting table. Vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel cylindrical vats. The maceration period is 18 to 21 days. Micro-oxygenation. The juices are co-inoculated with exogenous yeasts and bacteria, in stainless steel vats at 25°C. The ageing lasts 18 months in barrels (60% new, 40% of one wine).

    Blend

The Château Capbern 2023 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (69%), Merlot (29%), Petit Verdot (1%) and Cabernet Franc (1%).
