Description
A full and smooth Moulis red wine
The estate
Located in the Moulis appellation, in the heart of the Médoc, Château Chasse-Spleen was founded in 1720. Its name, Chasse-Spleen, acquired in 1863, comes from the Anglo-Saxon trend and is inspired by Baudelaire. The estate has been run since 2000 by Céline Villars.
The vineyard
Château Chasse-Spleen is a Moulis wine whose terroir lies on a gravelly hilltop in the Grand Poujeaux sector.
The vintage
A relatively dry and sometimes cold winter was punctuated by an episode of frost at the end of March - beginning of April. The flowering was qualitative and even. June was marked by four heat waves and preceded a hot summer. The vineyard resisted these weather conditions. The early harvest was accompanied by some beneficial rainfall for the vineyard.
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (54%)
Merlot (39%)
Petit Verdot (5%)
Cabernet Franc (2%)
