    Description

Tasting Notes and Recommendations for the Piada "C de Sec" 2025 from Château Closiot

    Tasting notes

    Appearance
This wine generally reveals a bright golden yellow hue, sometimes tinged with pale, vivid golden glints.

    Nose
Wonderfully complex, the aromatic bouquet exudes generous scents of very ripe fruit, such as pear and peach, mingled with exotic notes of pineapple. Subtle hints of spice, vanilla and toasted notes intertwine, occasionally underscored by a delicate nuance of beeswax.

    Palate
Full-bodied and rich, the palate seduces with its dense texture and remarkable concentration. The richness of the fruit is perfectly balanced by a chalky, mineral acidity, drawing the wine toward a long, taut finish with delicate lemony notes.

    Food and wine pairings

This great dry white wine pairs beautifully with fine fish in creamy sauces, such as turbot or roasted sea bass with beurre blanc. It also enhances white meats in cream and mushroom sauce, rich risottos, as well as hard cheeses such as an aged Comté.

    Serving and cellaring

For optimal enjoyment, it is recommended to serve the Piada "C de Sec" 2025 at around 10°C. Offered en primeur, this vintage boasts a fine structure that gives it excellent aging potential in the cellar.

A distinctive expression of great dry white Bordeaux by Château Closiot

    The estate

Founded in 1988, the SCEA Château Closiot is part of the history of a former pilgrims' resting place and a small farmstead located in Barsac, in the Bordeaux region of France. The estate's fortunes changed in 2017 when it was acquired by Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens, renowned winemakers from the Mâconnais. Under their guidance, this estate of around 4.5 to 8 hectares has carved out a bold identity, combining the historic terroir of the great sweet wines with Burgundian expertise to craft exceptionally high-quality dry white wines, widely praised by critics.

    The vineyard

Located in the Piada plot, on the renowned limestone plateau of Barsac, the vineyard benefits from a unique microclimate marked by morning mists and sunny afternoons. The old vines, deeply rooted in prime clay-limestone soils within the Clos Bonneau, are farmed according to organic principles. This exceptional terroir, traditionally devoted to noble rot, is here showcased to produce great dry white Bordeaux wines of rare concentration.

    Winemaking and aging

The Piada "C de Sec" 2025 is the result of highly demanding viticulture. The grapes are harvested through successive selective picking to gather berries at optimal ripeness. After gentle vertical pressing, the wine is both vinified and aged on the lees entirely in oak barrels, of which around a quarter are new. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in barrel, giving the wine its full-bodied texture and aromatic complexity.

    Grape varieties

Historically, this cuvée is largely dominated by Sémillon (often more than 80%), complemented by Sauvignon Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and, depending on the year, a touch of Muscadelle.
