    Fragrant, with spicy herbal notes, eucalyptus, cherries, cassis, blackberries; on the palate, powerful, with the finest tannins, firm, showing structure, balance, freshness and length. Once again, very successful.

    A blend led by Merlot, followed by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. Deep ruby in colour, with a nose that leans into oak and spice. The palate is juicy and peppery, showing restraint now but with evident structure and well-made tannins. Black fruits and spice unfurl on a broad yet compact finish, promising excellent evolution. 2% Carménère, 1% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot complete the blend.

    Black cherries, licorice, and flowers come together in the nose, and on the bright, fresh, medium-bodied, vibrant, crisp, black-raspberry, cocoa, licorice, and espresso-oriented palate. This should be a pleasure to taste with just a year or so of aging. Drink from 2028-2040. 90-92 Pts

    Ruby red, medium intensity, grilled sandalwood and red liquorice, pocket of air running under these slim red fruits, limestone signature, with a lovely salty twist on the finish, and this is enjoyable, if a lighter styled Pressac. 40ha, Jean-François Quenin owner. First year of massal selection for Cabernet Franc, 8% amphora ageing, and 20% whole bunch fermentation on Merlot and Franc, 38hl/h yield (but with 25% going into a 3rd wine, so overall a very tight selection).

    Beautiful deep colour with garnet highlights. A very fine nose, intense, refined, pure, fruity and subtle. Supple on the attack, juicy and flavoursome on the mid-palate, with brightness on the palate and a velvety texture, the wine gains points on the finish, where it lingers at length. A unique personality! A success in Saint-Emilion, underpinned by a wide variety of soils and grape varieties, plus a firm commitment to quality, including for the second wine. Bravo! Blend: 67.2% Merlot, 18.3% Cabernet Franc, 10.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1.8% Carmenère, 1.3% Petit Verdot and 1.0% Malbec. Alcohol: 13.4% - pH: 3.5 - IPT: 68. Yield: 37.4 hl/ha.     A Powerful and Elegantly Refined Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé

    The Estate
    The Château de Pressac, located in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse in Gironde, is a historic Bordeaux estate, famous for the English surrender of 1453. Since 1997, Jean-François and Dominique Quénin have been managing this Grand Cru Classé, classified in 2012, which stands out for its neo-medieval architecture and a blend of grape varieties including malbec and carménère. In 2021, a new winery was inaugurated, reinforcing the estate's commitment to innovation while preserving its rich heritage.

    The Vineyard
    The vineyard of Château de Pressac extends over 39 hectares in production for 2024. Located on the heights of Saint-Émilion, it benefits from an exceptional terroir where the vine is cultivated according to the principles of reasoned struggle. Viticultural practices include sexual confusion, soil work and grassing, complemented by manual interventions such as disbudding, leaf thinning and thinning to optimize the quality of the grapes.

    Vinification and Aging
    Manual harvest accompanied by a rigorous double sorting on a vibrating table and Tribaie densimetric sorting. Gravity vatting, with 20% of whole harvest, preserves the integrity of the berries. Fermentation is carried out with gentle pump-overs and/or rack and returns during 18 to 21 days of maceration. Malolactic fermentations partially take place in new barrels, before an aging period of 16 to 18 months in barrels (93% of which 40% are new wood) and amphorae (7%).

    Blend
    The Château de Pressac 2024 is the result of a blend dominated by merlot (67.2%), complemented by cabernet-franc (18.3%), cabernet-sauvignon (10.4%), and touches of carménère (1.8%), petit verdot (1.3%) and malbec (1%).
