Tasting notes
Appearance
Ranging from pale yellow to gold, this wine is enhanced by subtle golden highlights.
Nose
Remarkably generous, the nose releases aromas of stone fruit such as apricot and peach, intertwined with notes of honey and fresh almond. Delicate touches of candied citrus fruit round off this complex bouquet.
Palate
The palate is seductive, with a rich, powerful texture and impressive concentration. The balance is perfect between the natural generosity of the grape variety and a preserved freshness, leading to a finish of remarkable persistence.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood and shellfish such as lobster or crab, as well as with a traditional bouillabaisse. It is also an excellent match for roast poultry in a cream sauce, a veal tagine with apricots and almonds, Asian dishes with mild spices, or mature cheeses such as Comté or Gruyère.
Serving and cellaring
To fully enjoy the Tinus Roussanne Côteau de l'Aigle 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 7 and 12°C.
The Richness and Freshness of a White Wine from Château des Tourettes
The estate
Acquired in 1997 by Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens-Heynen, Château des Tourettes is a wine estate located near the town of Apt. This couple of passionate winemakers undertook a colossal task to restructure this once-neglected vineyard. Today, the estate extends over approximately 15 hectares and stands out for its unique philosophical approach, favouring minimally interventionist methods. The current owners craft exceptional cuvées here, demonstrating that atypical terroirs can yield wines of remarkable quality, free from regional conventions.
The vineyard
Rising to approximately 420 metres above sea level on the Plateau de l'Aigle, the vineyard enjoys a Mediterranean climate tempered by cool nights. This diurnal temperature range, combined with limestone-rich soils, allows for slow ripening of the grapes while preserving their natural acidity. The vines are carefully tended and harvested by hand. In order to retain complete freedom in the choice of grape varieties, the estate chose to classify this cuvée as Vin de France.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage was marked by particularly hot weather conditions in the south of the country, favouring an early harvest. This exceptional heat allowed the berries to reach optimal phenolic ripeness, while the altitude of the terroir played a key role in maintaining a lovely freshness.
Vinification and ageing
After hand harvesting and rigorous sorting, the berries undergo an extremely gentle pressing. Only the first juices are retained for the production of the Tinus Roussanne Côteau de l'Aigle 2022, in order to avoid any bitterness. Fermentation takes place exclusively in tulip-shaped concrete tanks. The wine is then aged on fine lees for several months in these same vessels, which gives it its complex texture and naturally protects it from oxidation.
Grape variety
Roussanne (100%).
