    Vinum

Fine and delicate, with nutty and floral notes, candied citrus fruit, blossom honey; a sweet opening, a very fine balance of sweetness and acidity, lively, well-balanced, very long finish. Excellent.

    Decanter

Juicy and lively, this has a real kick to it with the acidity at the fore – tangy lemon and pineapple before slowly creamy, vanilla, apricot and pear come in. I like the style, it’s upfront and focused, less overtly sweet than some bit with real energy and grip. Great stuff here, so approachable, so enjoyable on a summer’s day. Mouthwatering and alive. Still a little spiced and angular but this will soften.

Bitter orange marmalade character, with attractive studs of bitter fennel that help balance out the succulence of the exotic fruit character. Yield 10hl/ha.

What intensity and complexity in this bouquet, with notes of rhubarb, candied limes and verbena! The smooth and tangy elements fuse brilliantly on the palate, asserting charm and liveliness through both density and softness, with an incisive edge. An exceptional wine, at the start of its journey. The “

Tasting Notes and Serving Advice for Château Doisy-Védrines 2025

    Tasting

    Appearance
This wine reveals a deep straw-yellow color with golden highlights.

    Nose
Remarkably pure aromatically, the bouquet offers vibrant and complex notes of exotic fruits, citrus, candied fruits, honey, and stone fruits, enhanced by the early development of noble rot.

    Palate
The texture is velvety and particularly refined, offering a generous and indulgent mid-palate. The whole is supported by fine concentration and a refreshing structure, creating a perfect balance between richness and liveliness.

    Food and wine pairings
This great sweet wine is especially enjoyable as an aperitif. It also pairs wonderfully with foie gras, blue-veined cheeses such as Roquefort, or spicy dishes inspired by Asian cuisine.

    Serving and cellaring
With strong aging potential, Château Doisy-Védrines 2025 will evolve beautifully in the cellar over many years, developing complex secondary aromas.

The elegance and freshness of a Sauternes wine by Château Doisy-Védrines

    The estate
Founded in 1704 by the Védrines family, the original estate was divided in 1851 to create the Château Doisy-Védrines, the largest of the three resulting entities. Located in the Bordeaux region, this prestigious property has belonged to the Castéja family since 1946. Today, Olivier Castéja manages this historic estate with the ambition of modernizing the image of great sweet wines. Renowned for its exceptional terroir, Château Doisy-Védrines stands out for its ability to produce cuvées combining power, complexity, and freshness, making it a benchmark of its appellation.

    The vineyard
The vineyard extends over a single block of approximately 27 to 35 planted hectares within a 51-hectare estate. Ideally located at the highest point of the Haut-Barsac plateau, in the Sauternes region, it benefits from a heterogeneous terroir composed of clay-limestone soils, sands, fine gravels, and iron-rich limestone. The vines, aged 25 to 35 years, are planted at a density of 6,500 vines per hectare. The proximity of the Ciron River encourages morning mists, essential for the development of Botrytis cinerea. The estate has been HVE 3 certified since 2019.

    The vintage
The growing season benefited from moderate temperatures. Strategic rainfall at the end of August enabled a rapid and intense onset of noble rot. However, a late heatwave limited berry development, resulting in moderate yields of around 30 hectoliters per hectare, thereby promoting exceptional concentration.

    Winemaking and aging
Harvest took place from September 17 to October 13 in three successive passes. Aging is carried out in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new. The final blend is the result of meticulous selection among 17 distinct lots. Alcohol: 14% vol.

    Grape varieties
Château Doisy-Védrines 2025 is a blend of 88% Sémillon, 8% Sauvignon Blanc, and 4% Muscadelle.
