    Robert Parker

    Robert M. Parker, Jr.

This 2012 from Fayat is a deep ruby/purple color and has good ripeness, but wines from this estate always seem to lack complexity and nuance. Overall, it is monolithic and somewhat straightforward. Drink it over the next decade.

    Decanter

Perhaps a little forced. Jammy fruit with a dry finish.

    James Suckling

Lots of blackberry and dried flower character on the nose for this red, before it gives way to a full body, refined yet firm tannins, fresh acidity and a fresh finish. Drink in 2017.

    Antonio Galloni

The 2012 Fayat offers good immediacy but lacks complexity and depth. I would prefer to drink the 2012 over the next few years, while the flavors remain bold and juicy, as there isn’t much material here to allow for aging.

The wine is medium-bodied and forward, with sweet red cherries and floral aromas, finishing with a softly textured end.

    Andreas Larsson

Pure, intense and floral, very juicy and dense fruit, well-integrated tannins, pure, long and intense finish, bright and fresh, well made.

    Weinwisser

Deep purple, dense at the core, with garnet tinges at the rim. A porridge-like, jammy bouquet reminiscent of just-cooled preserves, with pronounced roasted notes suggesting dark bread crust. On the palate, fairly substantial, a precise extract with subtly grainy, firm tannins that should settle with time.

    René Gabriel

Deep purple, dense in the middle, with garnet highlights at the rim. A porridge-like bouquet, reminiscent of just-cooled jam, with pronounced roasted notes akin to dark bread crust. On the palate, fairly full-bodied, with a pronounced extract and subtly firm tannins that should mellow soon.

    André Kunz

Sweet, red-berried, peppery bouquet, sour cherries, vanilla. Light, firm palate with fine, powdery tannins, light fruit, medium aromatics, dry finish. 16/20 2019 - 2028

    Le Figaro Vin

Fayat is a lovely Pomerol with good density and a supple, plush texture.

    Jean-Marc Quarin

    Jean-Marc Quarin

Wine with a fruity nose, a round, pleasant palate, and medium length.

    Wine Spectator

    James Molesworth

A briary streak is well-buried in the core of plum sauce, melted black licorice and blackberry coulis flavors. The graphite edge on the finish keeps this balanced while letting the fruit drip. Solid. Drink now through 2020. 4,583 cases made.

    Description

A fruity and fresh Pomerol red wine

    The property

Founded in 2009, Château Fayat is the result of the merger of three properties: Prieurs de la Commanderie, La Commanderie de Mazeyres and Vieux Château Bourgneuf.

Passionate, the Fayat family conducted a rigorous study of the property's soils in 2016 to ensure the ideal management of its vineyard, giving birth to great Pomerol wines.

    The vineyard

Château Fayat is a Pomerol wine from a 14-hectare terroir. The vines are planted on deep Graves with brown soils composed of sands, silts and clay.

    Blend

85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc.
