The sun-drenched elegance of a Listrac wine
The estate
Built in 1855 by Henri Le Blanc de Mauvesin, Château Fonréaud shines at the heart of the Bordeaux region. Acquired in 1962 by Léo Chanfreau, the estate is now led by Jean and Marie-Hélène Chanfreau, alongside Caroline Chanfreau-Philippon. The property stands out for its historic location on the highest point of the Médoc peninsula. Committed to a strong environmental approach, the family passionately perpetuates the identity of this exceptional terroir, straddling two prestigious appellations.
The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Fonréaud extends over the gravelly and clay soils characteristic of Listrac. Its geographical location between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde estuary provides the estate with a particular microclimate that influences the character of the wines.
Winemaking and aging
Aging is carried out in barrels, 25% of which are new. Alcohol content: 13% vol.
Grape varieties
The blend consists of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.
