    Vinum

Smoky-tinged nose with a herbaceous, spicy edge, underpinned by ripe raspberries and beeswax; on the palate, a slightly creamy opening, juicy fruit, fine tannins, crisp and fresh, with lively acidity and a balanced, elegant finish. Very successful. An outstanding Grand Mayne.

    Decanter

Beautiful aromas on the nose, blackcurrants and dark chocolate. Fleshy and ripe while being so juicy and lifted, great energy and focus here, still touches of oak in the coffee, tobacco and clove elements, but the fruit has purity and this retains a much brighter, more focused expression than in some previous EP samples. Crunchy, crisp, lively yet still carrying that core of power and drive. If anything still a bit bitter on the finish but this will settle. 3.55pH. Ageing 18 months, 40% new barrels.

Elegant, precise, perfumed, soft, vibrant, and silky, there is a nice depth of flavor, refined tannins and a finish that focuses you on its wealth of black raspberries, chocolate-covered cherries, plums, licorice, spice, and espresso. The wine blends 62% Merlot, and 38% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2029-2050. 93-95 Pts

Sugar-dusted almonds, rose petals, gentle and lilting, chalky tannins, mouthwatering not overly aggressive acidity, enjoyable. 3.55 pH. Harvest September 4 to 18. 40% new oak, Jean-Antoine Nony, an estate with a lot of work happening over the past few years in vineyard and cellar, Derenoncourt Consultants as of the 2024 vintage.

    Yves Beck

A subtle bouquet with floral and fruity nuances, offering scents of iris, dark berries and eucalyptus, followed by a touch of fresh wood. Slightly creamy on the attack, the wine stands out for its finesse and precision. Its tannins provide well-integrated vigor. Working in tandem with the wine’s acidic structure, they deliver a harmonious, fresh and persistent character. A promising wine.

Deep, beautiful red colour. Intense, refined, fruity, pure nose. Really lovely when the glass is swirled. Smooth on entry, tasty through the mid-palate, with a supple body and plenty of fruit; the wine glides and caresses the palate, finishing with a sappy, fragrant note. Very good. Blend: 62% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 13.5%.

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Grand Mayne 2025

    Tasting

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals great complexity, unfolding beautiful floral notes intertwined with aromas of red and black fruits such as cherry and plum.

    Palate
The wine offers medium concentration with a particularly elegant structure. The fruity and voluptuous expression of merlot is perfectly balanced by the refined tannins of cabernet franc. The finish stands out for its precise minerality and refined tannic framework.

    Food and wine pairings

This grand cru pairs wonderfully with red meats such as beef or game, as well as with roasted poultry. It will also elevate an osso buco, dishes enhanced with truffles or wild mushrooms, and will ideally accompany hard or semi-hard cheeses.

    Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 16 °C after decanting it for one to two hours. With excellent aging potential, this vintage can be cellared until around 2045.

The elegance and minerality of a Saint-Émilion grand cru classé

    The estate

Located in the heart of the renowned Bordeaux region, Château Grand Mayne is a historic estate whose official winegrowing origins date back to 1685 under the impetus of Jacques Laveau. Owned by the Nony family since 1934, this grand cru classé is now brilliantly managed by the third generation, represented by Jean-Antoine and Damien Nony. Combining centuries-old heritage with modern agroecological practices, the estate stands out for its constant pursuit of excellence, producing wines that rank among the finest references of their appellation.

    The vineyard

The terroir of this Saint-Emilion estate benefits from a privileged geographical location with southern and western exposures. The vines, averaging 30 years of age, thrive on a dual geological composition: clay-limestone slopes promoting minerality, and foothill soils combining clay and sand.

    The vintage

The year was marked by demanding climatic conditions, characterized by significant drought and high temperatures throughout the growing cycle. These factors led to early harvests, carried out from September 4 to 18. Despite these challenges, cool nighttime temperatures helped preserve excellent acidity, yielding berries of outstanding ripeness.

    Winemaking and aging

Malolactic fermentation is carried out in barrels (40% new, 40% one- and two-year-old) and in wooden vats (20%). The wine is then carefully aged in these same vessels, allowing its structure to refine. Alcohol: 13.5% vol.

    Grape varieties

This Château Grand Mayne 2025 is a blend of merlot (62%) and cabernet franc (38%).
