    Description

A complex and elegant red wine from Pauillac

    The estate

With a vineyard located on the finest terroirs of Pauillac, the Château Grand-Puy Ducasse is one of the most beautiful estates of the prestigious appellation located on the left bank of Bordeaux. Founded in 1675, this 5th Cru Classé stands out for its precise, structured Pauillac wines with significant aging potential.

    The vineyard

Patiently established and assembled by the lawyer Pierre Ducasse in the 18th century, the vineyard of Château Grand-Puy Ducasse extends over 40 hectares spread over three large plots of Pauillac. The vines, averaging 25 years old, are planted on silico-gravelly Garonne gravel soils.

    The vintage

The climatic conditions of the year 2014 are ideal until the month of August, when a drought phase causing water stress is recorded. The rainy episodes of the last three weeks of August restart the maturities.

    Vinification and aging

Once the harvest is carried out by hand and the grapes rigorously selected by manual and then optical sorting, the vinifications are carried out in thermoregulated stainless steel vats. Some of the batches undergo their malolactic fermentation in new barrels. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, 35% of which are new.

    Blend

    Cabernet sauvignon (60%)
    Merlot (40%).
