    Vinum

Cool-toned aromatics with blackcurrant, blackberry and distinct toasty notes, lifted by floral accents; on the palate, fresh, with a fruit-driven attack, then the tannins make themselves felt—pronounced yet not too dominant; the finish is red-fruited, ending on a saline note with sour cherry. Since the new winery facilities, the wine has clearly gained in elegance.

Lovely fragrance and intensity of aromatics, blackcurrants and cherries with some dried herbal notes. Supple and grippy, chalky and filling but with such delicacy that it’s not at all overwhelming. Young but not really tight or too focused, it settles after a few minutes opening up the ripe black fruit. Mouthwatering acidity perfectly balances the tannins and structure without one part being over the top. I like the restrained style but there’s still an undercurrent of blueberries, cola, mint, liquorice and graphite. Assured and confident. Spiced.

Currants, cigar box, tobacco leaves, cedar, blackberries, flowers, licorice, and a touch of smoke create the aromatic profile. On the palate the wine is round, polished, fruity, and expansive, with layers of creamy berries, espresso, licorice and spice. This could be the best wine ever produced at Grand Puy Ducasse. Drink from 2030-2055. 94-96 Pts

Concentrated and plenty of punch, this has plenty of tasty black fruits, juice and flavourful character. Enjoyable. First year in organic conversion.

The definition shown by the bouquet of Grand-Puy Ducasse is a delight! It stands out for its many nuances and precision, with a perfect interplay of floral, fruity and mineral notes. Hints of mint bring freshness, graphite conveys the terroir, and blackcurrant evokes the Cabernet Sauvignon… among others! On the palate, the wine is immediately creamy from the attack. Its compact, powerful tannins build a solid framework where both intensity and detail shine through. The acidity neatly reins in the wine’s energy, promoting balance while adding freshness. A real success that highlights the potential and promising future of this estate. At last!

Deep color with purplish highlights. An intense, fruity, subtle nose. Delicate on the attack, flavorful on the mid-palate, with a plump, full-bodied texture and plenty of depth, the wine develops into a juicy, supple, aromatic profile, leading to a finish with beautifully integrated tannins. A progression that is rarely seen as fleshy and seamless. Traditional blend: 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot. Alcohol: 13%

    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Château Grand-Puy Ducasse 2025

    Tasting

    Appearance
This wine reveals a deep colour, with a dark purple core and subtle violet hues along the edges.

    Nose
The bouquet is both generous and remarkably clean. It releases aromas of ripe, vibrant black fruits such as blackberry, blackcurrant and black plum. With aeration, elegant notes of roasted coffee, vanilla, dark chocolate and mocha emerge, complemented by delicate floral touches reminiscent of rose and violet.

    Palate
With a medium to full body, the wine offers a particularly silky texture. The tannins are well present and display great finesse. A lovely acidity supports the brightness of the fruit and carries the wine towards a persistent and flavourful finish, marked by hints of spice, cedar, graphite and light tobacco.

    Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with grilled or roasted red meats, as well as lamb-based dishes such as a herb-crusted rack of lamb. It will also enhance game, duck breast or flavourful vegetable recipes showcasing mushrooms.

    Serving and cellaring
To fully enjoy this wine in its youth, it is recommended to decant it one to two hours before serving at a temperature between 16 and 18 °C. This vintage has excellent ageing potential, with a peak estimated between 2032 and 2035, and can be cellared for around more than twenty years.

The elegance of a great Pauillac wine by Château Grand-Puy Ducasse

    The estate
Founded in 1675 by Arnaud Ducasse, Château Grand-Puy Ducasse is a historic property in the Bordeaux region. This 40-hectare estate enjoys a unique urban location, with its technical facilities situated on the quays facing the Gironde estuary. Classified as a Grand Cru in 1855, it now belongs to CA Grands Crus, a subsidiary of the Crédit Agricole group. Led by Anne Le Naour, the estate combines a rich heritage with constant modernisation to express the full richness of its terroir.

    The vineyard
Spanning 40 hectares, the vineyard is particularly representative of the diversity of Pauillac's terroirs, with no fewer than fourteen different soil types, mainly composed of gravel. The vines, averaging 25 to 30 years old, benefit from a high planting density. For this vintage, all plots were managed according to the principles of organic farming.

    The vintage
The year was marked by climatic conditions that led to an early and concentrated harvest. The grapes were picked at optimal ripeness, thanks to strong mobilisation and the great adaptability of the technical teams in response to the demands of the season.

    Winemaking and ageing
The harvest was carried out entirely by hand, in small crates. In the cellar, the new suspended, gravity-fed vat room enabled extremely precise vinifications. Thanks to rigorous plot-by-plot and intra-plot selection, each bunch was directed to the most suitable vat, ensuring an ideal separation of juices. The wine was then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Alcohol content: 13% vol.

    Grape varieties
Cabernet Sauvignon (66%), Merlot (31%), Petit Verdot (3%).
