    Description

A Pauillac wine imbued with balance and elegance

    The estate

A Fifth Growth classified in 1855, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste spans 90 hectares, including 55 hectares of vineyards in Pauillac, in Bordeaux’s Médoc. Acquired in 1978 by Jean-Eugène Borie, the estate is now run by François-Xavier Borie, joined since 2010 by his daughter Émeline Borie. Set on ridges of deep gravel, the vineyard lies on an outstanding terroir, mentioned as early as the Middle Ages. Established in the Médoc since 1886, the Borie family has gradually elevated the estate among the greatest names of Pauillac.

    The vineyard

This Pauillac vineyard covers 55 hectares grouped into a single block, on deep gravel soils, with gently undulating relief. The vines have an average age of 38 years. The estate favors mechanical soil work, notably ploughing, and adopts a reasoned approach to pest management. The varietal composition is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.

    Grape varieties

    Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
