    Decanter

Complex plum, damson and berry fruits with a saline, mineral edge; intense and concentrated with a long, gravelly finish.

The 2015 Château La Connivence is a terrific Pomerol well worth seeking out. Offering a complex style in its white truffle, black cherry, blackcurrants, and hints of chocolate aromas and flavors, it hits the palate with terrific intensity, ripe tannin, medium- to full-bodied depth, and a great finish. It’s another gem from the right bank that’s going to deliver the goods over the coming 10–15 years.

Garnet red with violet highlights. Delicate, complex bouquet. Notes of Morello cherry, prunes, tea leaves, and grilled bacon. A touch of freshness with a hint of mint and graphite. Lively, elegant attack. On the palate, the wine shows beautiful aromatic intensity. This is well supported by the structure through to the finish. The tannins are elegant and display good power. They lend character, which bodes well for this Pomerol. A surprising wine for its ability to reconcile power and flavor.

Three partners, including Alexandre De Malet Roquefort, share this tiny 1.3-hectare property in Pomerol. Dark, intense color. Aromatic nose with ripe fruit. Smooth, seamless, fragrant palate—tender, flavorful, with good length and a gentle tannic grip. Blend: 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc – Alcohol: 15.2% – pH: 3.8. There is a second wine, 100% Merlot, called La Belle Connivence. It is lighter (rated 14.75).

    Description

A great Pomerol wine marked by balance and finesse

    The property

The story of the Château La Connivence is above all a story of friendship with three wine-loving friends who decide to create a very good wine. The superb Pomerol appellation then becomes the cradle of this connivance that unites the three owners: Johan Micoud, former international football player, Matthieu Chalmé, former player of the Girondins de Bordeaux and Alexandre de Malet Roquefort, owner of the Château La Gaffelière in Saint-Émilion.

    The vineyard

A garden vineyard, Château La Connivence is a real little gem: 1.40 hectares located on a very large terroir of Pomerol, emblematic land of merlot, the flagship grape variety that covers 65% of the estate's land. The château has also chosen to plant cabernet franc, which represents 35% of the vineyard. On this gravel terroir combining fat gravels, fine gravels and clayey sandy soils, the three friends immediately sense that the perfect conditions are met to be able to produce a very great Pomerol wine. In order to preserve this precious terroir, the vines are exclusively worked by hand and managed in a reasoned agriculture.
