    Description

The richness of an intense and concentrated Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé

    The estate

Located in the heart of the village of Saint-Émilion near the monolithic church, the Château La Couspaude has belonged to the Aubert family since 1750. This Grand Cru Classé, called “La Croix Paute” in the Middle Ages, takes its name from the cross at the entrance of the estate, which served as a meeting point for pilgrims journeying to Saint-Jacques de Compostelle.

    The vineyard

The Château La Couspaude overlooks a 7.01-hectare vineyard. The vines, averaging 30 years of age, are planted on the heights of the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion.

    Winemaking and aging

Hand-harvested in crates with parcel selection, the grapes are manually sorted and undergo whole-berry fermentation in new oak barrels. Pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature. Manual punch-downs. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in barrels, as is the 18-month aging.

    Blend

Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
