    Description

The fruity intensity of a subtle and generous great red wine from Pomerol

    The property
Owned by the Castéja family since 2005, the Château La Croix du Casse is a very serious reference of the Pomerol appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. Equipped with efficient tools and benefiting from an exceptional vineyard, the property stands out for its great Pomerol wines full of charm and seduction expressing all the typicity of the appellation.

    The vineyard
Located at the southern tip of the Pomerol plateau, the vineyard of Château La Croix du Casse extends over a terroir characteristic of the appellation, consisting of gravel and ancient sands with a sub-layer containing a significant proportion of iron slag.

    The vintage
2019 is one of those vintages as astonishing as they are superb. The year 2019 was indeed characterized by a great drought with a deficit rainfall. The two summer months were marked by heatwave temperatures. Quite early, the harvests of Château La Croix du Casse thus took place from September 16 for the merlot, to October 7 for the cabernets. From the beginning of the winemaking, all the elements were gathered to announce a great vintage: color of the wines, roundness of the fruit and length of the wines with historically high alcohol levels and this, for all the grape varieties.

    Blend
    Merlot (95%), cabernet franc (5%).

Very expressive, the aromatic bouquet reveals notes of red fruits evoking currant and plum associated with floral notes.

    Palate
On the palate, the mouth develops gradually revealing a greedy and soft texture with already well integrated tannins while maintaining a great freshness. The result of a superb vintage in 9, this Château La Croix du Casse 2019 is undoubtedly a Pomerol not to be missed that will be appreciated both in its youth or after several years of aging.
