A lively and precise red wine from Margaux

    The property
With origins dating back to the 13th century, Château La Tour de Mons is one of the oldest wine estates in Margaux. Classified as Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, Château La Tour de Mons underwent significant renovation work during the 1990s. Managed by CA Grands Crus since 2012 and under the direction of Anne Le Naour, technical director of the property, Château La Tour de Mons produces wines reflecting all the typicity and authenticity of the Margaux appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux.

    The vineyard
In one piece, the 48 hectares of vines of Château La Tour de Mons extend over Garonne gravels and clay-limestone soils in the heart of the AOC Margaux.

    The vintage

A wet spring precedes a summer whose instability leads to significant health pressure. The efforts made by the team are rewarded by an Indian summer stretching until the end of October, ensuring a progressive and homogeneous maturation of the berries.

    Vinification and aging

Following manual harvesting, the grapes are sorted, then placed in stainless steel vats suitable for parcel vinification. This slow process is done at low temperature in order to best preserve the superb aromatic profile of the vintage. The wine is then aged in barrels for 12 months, with a proportion of new wood of around 40%.

    Blend

54% merlot, 35% cabernet sauvignon, 6% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot.
