The estate
A Sauternes Premier Cru Classé since 1855, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey, a flagship estate of Vignobles Silvio Denz, is one of the most prestigious names in this iconic sweet wine appellation in the south of the Bordeaux region.
The vineyard
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey boasts an exceptional terroir, with 36 hectares of vines devoted exclusively to producing its Sauternes Premier Cru Classé.
The wine
Since 2016, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey has offered a limited edition for which the "Femme et Raisins" engraving, created by René Lalique in 1928, is adorned with gold at the Lalique workshops in Alsace.
The empty bottles are gilded at the Lalique workshops and then sent to the château for filling.
2019 marks the fourth edition of this iconic cuvée, with each bottle presented in a unique, numbered case.
Combining French savoir-faire and art de vivre, Lafaurie-Peyraguey Golden Edition 2019 is the perfect union of the gold of Sauternes and the Alsatian excellence of Maison Lalique.
The vintage
In Sauternes, humidity was felt more strongly in 2019 than in other appellations, which helped reduce water stress on the vines. After a rainy spell, warm September days allowed Botrytis cinerea to develop well and encouraged the concentration of the berries. The harvest took place from 11 to 14 October.
Blend
This Lafaurie-Peyraguey Golden Edition 2019 is a blend of Sémillon (93%) and Sauvignon Blanc (7%)
