    Vinum

Fruit-driven and seemingly fresh, roasted almonds, rose petals, fruit tea, noble toasted notes, garrigue herbs; a fresh palate, delicate fruit, fine tannins; light in body, with a very beautiful aromatic length, finishing on blood orange. Elegant and balanced.

    Decanter

Round and nicely filling, this has grip and focus. I like the salty touches with liquorice, dark cherry and black chocolate, quite herbal and spiced but nuanced too. They haven't pushed too hard here and this is definitely more elegant than it could have been. Raspberries and cranberries with some cool blueberry accent too. This has good persistence and no let up on the mid palate. Will be approachable soon after drinking. Impressive and a clear success.

80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample. Supple fruit with a touch of oak. Plush for the vintage. Polished tannins but some dryness from the oak on the finish. Stylistically true to form. (JL)

Plummy, black cherry, cocoa, and flower-filled wine that exudes charm, soft, supple textures, and a fresh, medium-bodied finish. The wine has good energy in the endnotes, leaving you with sweet cherries, chocolate, spices, and licorice. The wine is a blend of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2027-2040. 91-93 pts

    Le Figaro Vin

Fresh and tender, the nose combines floral scents and fruity aromas in a charming, refined bouquet, with well-integrated oak. Intense and fleshy, generous, the palate offers a beautiful tangy framework, very dynamic and bright. A versatile wine.

Nuances of blackcurrant, elderberry and iris, followed by a hint of coffee in Bon Pasteur’s bouquet! Smooth on the attack, the wine stands out for its finesse, velvety texture and tannins that perfectly uphold the wine’s delicacy. They bring a touch of breadth and connect with the austerity and freshness that are present. A generous, convincing wine that will always surprise with its ability to perform year after year while becoming a little more contemporary. A great wine, in short. Congratulations to the whole team. Another excellent Bon Pasteur!

Good quality, this is one to look out for, plum and damson fruits, cocoa bean, 50% new oak. 35 hl/ha, Julien Viaud consultant, this has stripped back the amount of oak while retaining the signature of the estate, and some Pomerol plushness. No need to wait too long, thoroughly enjoyable.

Deep colour with garnet highlights. An intense nose with ripe, truffle-like fruit aromas. Delicate on entry, very flavoursome on the mid-palate, with plenty of flavour and—this time—a truly classy, refined mouthfeel; the wine finishes long and sappy, with an even more precise texture than ever, already seen in the very latest vintages. What’s more, a more southern-tinged aroma—one I consider characteristic of the estate—lingers on the finish and suits the vintage perfectly. Beautiful work. Bravo! Blend: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 13% - pH: 3.67. Yield: 35 hl/ha. Production: 20,000 bottles.

    Description

An engaging Pomerol wine of concentration and precision

    The estate

Founded in 1920 by Joseph and Hermine Dupuy, Château Le Bon Pasteur experienced a decisive turning point in 1978 when oenologist Michel Rolland and his spouse acquired the estate. Following this, they deeply modernized it by applying precision winemaking techniques that would become their signature. In 2013, the estate was sold to the Chinese group Goldin, marking the beginning of a new era focused on the international prominence of this cru known for its opulent and refined style.

    The vineyard

Located in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, Château Le Bon Pasteur covers 5.20 hectares of vines planted on gravel-clay soils. The vines, averaging 40 years of age, are managed according to the principles of sustainable viticulture and benefit from the Haute Valeur Environnementale and ISO 14001 certifications.

    Vinification and aging

The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo a double sorting before and after destemming. Vinification begins with a cold maceration lasting 5 to 7 days, followed by fermentation carried out 100% in 225-liter barrels. The aging continues for 12 months in oak barrels, 50 % of which are new, allowing the wine to develop its complexity while preserving its fruit.

    Blend

This Château Le Bon Pasteur 2024 is the result of a Blend of 80 % Merlot and 20 % Cabernet Franc.
