    Decanter

Assessed both at the Pessac–Léognan group tasting at Château Olivier and at Domaine de Chevalier, this wine, cropped at a healthy 38 hl/ha, reflects a low pH of 3.21 with a certain steeliness on the palate, but also tonicity and Granny Smith Apple freshness. It could use a bit more breadth and depth but I like the energy from the medium-bodied palate.

Lemon rind, white peaches, and spicy pineapples, pop in the aromatics. Juicy, fruity, and fresh, the finish offers a vivid blend of yellow fruits with crisp green apples and a shot of sweet limes. The wine blends 70%, old vine, Sauvignon Blanc with 30% Semillon. Drink from 2027-2032. 93-93 Pts

A crowd pleaser, with smoky campfire and cold ash, citrus and white flowers, easy to recommend. Harvest August 25 to September 6. 33% new oak. In organic conversion.

    Yves Beck

Delicate hints of mandarin and apricot. Saline and slightly creamy on the attack, the wine shows freshness and a certain energy. Supported by fine bitter notes, it crystallizes its freshness on the finish. Persistent finish.

    Vinum

Fine and delicate on the nose, with notes of apple peel, elderflower and fresh herbs; on the palate, a creamy texture, ripe exotic fruit, finely chiseled acidity, well-structured, with a long, lingering finish.

    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Château Lespault-Martillac white 2025

    Tasting

    Nose
The nose opens enticingly on an almost exotic register, reflecting full and generously sun-drenched ripeness. White flowers express themselves with refinement — jasmine, linden and acacia — forming a delicate setting around a generous and seductive fruit palette: vineyard peach, pear, mirabelle plum and citrus blend harmoniously to compose a bouquet of great aromatic complexity.

    Palate
The palate reveals a texture of great class, ample and of remarkable purity, in perfect resonance with the aromas perceived on the nose. The material is generous and flavoursome, offering a caressing and fruity touch that envelops the palate with elegance. The tension of the acidity and a fine mineral edge on the finish come in with precision to refresh and balance the richness of the whole, bringing vibrancy and length. A full, suave and harmonious wine, to be enjoyed in all its splendour during its first decade.

The richness and vivacity of a white wine from Pessac-Léognan

    The estate

A former estate located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation with irresistible charm, Château Lespault-Martillac has experienced a true qualitative renaissance. Since 2009, the operation of Château Lespault-Martillac has been entrusted to Domaine de Chevalier, Grand Cru Classé de Graves under the direction of Olivier Bernard who, with passion and determination, has raised the estate to its highest level by revealing its exceptional terroir at the gates of Bordeaux.

    The vineyard

Château Lespault-Martillac is a Pessac-Léognan wine produced from a vineyard of which 8 hectares are dedicated to the production of red wines and 1.5 hectares to white wines. With an average age of 40 years, the vines are planted on deep gravel soils resting on clay-gravel subsoils.

    The vintage

The 2025 vintage benefited from exceptional climatic conditions: a rainy winter guaranteeing good water reserves, a mild spring favouring an early and homogeneous flowering, then a hot and dry summer allowing optimal ripening of the grapes. The harvest, staggered from late August to 26 September, was carried out in excellent conditions, with satisfactory yields. The result is wines of great aromatic richness, combining freshness, complexity and elegance, in both white and red.

    Vinification and ageing

Three to five successive sortings according to ripeness levels. Pressing is slow, without destemming and without maceration in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. Settling in vat by gravity. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out in barrels. No malolactic fermentation. Ageing in barrels (of which ¼ are new) for 9 months on lees with bâtonnage. Alcohol: 13% vol.

    Blend

    Sauvignon Blanc (75%)
    Sémillon (25%).
