Description
The Indulgence and Intensity of a White Pessac-Léognan
Château Malartic-Lagravière Blanc is one of the essential wines of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, in the Graves sub-region south of Bordeaux. This is one of the few estates in Bordeaux to produce both red and white wines ranked as Cru Classé. In 2018, Château Malartic-Lagravière benefited from ideal conditions for producing great wines, and although the second half of the year was hot, the whites show a highly aromatic profile with plenty of freshness.
Château Malartic-Lagravière Blanc 2018 is a blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Sémillon. The vines that produce the grapes are planted at high density, averaging 10,000 vines per hectare, on dry, clayey gravel soils over a subsoil of shelly limestone veined with clay. Château Malartic-Lagravière Blanc 2018 is aged 55% in new barrels and 45% in one-wine barrels, with regular lees stirring.
This 2018 white Pessac-Léognan is intense on the nose, with pleasant aromas of stone fruit, citrus and green apple. It is a balanced, taut white Bordeaux whose freshness is heightened by its minerality. Generous and indulgent, it unfolds its aromatic bouquet in a beautifully long finish.
