    Description

Tasting notes and recommendations for Château Marjosse Rouge 2025

    Tasting

    Appearance
Deep and very intense, the color reveals dark, almost inky highlights, reflecting the concentration and ripeness of the vintage.

    Nose
Expressive, the bouquet opens with ripe black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant), then evolves toward delicate spicy notes, lifted by a subtle floral nuance in the background.

    Palate
A broad attack leads into a lively, precise palate, supported by सुंदर tension. The long, persistent finish charms with its black fruit aromas and lingering minerality.

A Bordeaux wine combining concentration and freshness

    The estate

Located in the heart of Entre-deux-Mers since 1782, the Château Marjosse is rooted in a rich history on Bordeaux’s right bank. Initially owned by wine merchant Bernard Chénier, it later joined the Deleuze family. In 1990, Pierre Lurton, a renowned figure in the Bordeaux wine world, first leased a few plots before settling there two years later, not far from his childhood home at Château Reynier. Over time, he acquired the estate’s various holdings, consolidating them in 2013 when he became the sole owner. As early as 2000, he commissioned the construction of a contemporary winery equipped with more than 40 concrete vats, reflecting an approach that blends heritage with modern practices. Today, the vineyard spans 40 hectares on clay-limestone soils, an ideal setting for crafting elegant wines.

    The vineyard

The estate covers 40 hectares of clay-limestone terroirs. The vines are on average 25 years old, with some plots reaching up to 75 years. This mosaic of vine ages contributes to the richness and complexity of this Bordeaux wine.

    The vintage

A mild winter followed by a dry spring ensured an early start and a promising flowering. Subsequently, véraison was even, and the combination of drought and warm temperatures slowed vine growth. This resulted in small, concentrated berries while preserving a fine balance.

    Winemaking and aging

Parcel-by-parcel harvesting took place from September 4 to 25. Separate vinifications, gentle extractions, and aging without new oak (large vessels, concrete on fine lees) preserve finesse and aromatic brightness.

    Grape varieties

Merlot (60%), Cabernet Franc (25%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), and Malbec (5%).
