Plum and red cherry fruit. This has concentration, with attractive energy and lift through the palate. Clear structure, some oak toasting, although no new oak: large-format casks and partially in concrete tanks on fine lees. Owner: Pierre Lurton. Yield: 25 hl/ha. Harvest: September 4 to 12.

The bouquet’s freshness is expressed through violet notes, followed by hints of blueberry and elderberry. On the palate, the wine also stands out for its freshness. Its compact tannins align with the vibrant acidity, providing a comfortable backbone across the palate. A flavoursome wine to enjoy in its youth.

A beautifully deep red with bright highlights. Very aromatic nose with ripe, fragrant fruit. A caressing palate that develops, supple, slender and juicy. A lovely finish with aromas that return, persistent and long. Very good. Blend: 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec. Alcohol content: 14.5%. Yield: 25 hl/ha.

    Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Marjosse Rouge 2025

    Tasting

    Appearance
Deep and very intense, the color reveals dark, almost inky reflections, reflecting the concentration and maturity of the vintage.

    Nose
Expressive, the bouquet opens with ripe black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant), then evolves toward delicate spicy notes, lifted by a subtle floral hint in the background.

    Palate
A broad attack precedes a lively, straightforward palate supported by a fine tension. The long, persistent finish charms with its black fruit aromas and lingering minerality.

A Bordeaux wine combining concentration and freshness

    The estate

Located in the heart of Entre-deux-Mers since 1782, the Château Marjosse is rooted in a rich history on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Initially owned by wine merchant Bernard Chénier, it was later acquired by the Deleuze family. In 1990, Pierre Lurton, a renowned figure in the Bordeaux wine world, first leased several plots before settling there two years later, not far from his childhood home at Château Reynier. Over time, he acquired the various parts of the estate, bringing them together in 2013 when he became the sole owner. As early as 2000, he built a contemporary winery equipped with more than 40 concrete vats, reflecting an approach that combines heritage and modern practices. Today, the vineyard covers 40 hectares on clay-limestone soils, a setting particularly suited to producing elegant wines.

    The vineyard

The estate extends over 40 hectares of clay-limestone terroirs. The vines average 25 years of age, with some plots reaching 75 years. This mosaic of ages contributes to the richness and complexity of this Bordeaux wine.

    The vintage

A mild winter followed by a dry spring ensured an early start and promising flowering. Subsequently, véraison was even, and drought combined with warm temperatures slowed vine development. The result is small, concentrated berries while maintaining a fine balance.

    Winemaking and aging

Plot-by-plot harvesting took place from September 4 to 25. Separate vinifications, gentle extractions, and aging without new oak (large vessels, concrete on fine lees) preserve finesse and aromatic brightness. Alcohol: 14.5% vol.

    Grape varieties

Merlot (60%), Cabernet Franc (25%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Malbec (5%).
