    Decanter

Fragranced aromatics with violets and red cherries. Smooth and supple, this has both lovely purity and ripeness of plum and raspberry fruit that slowly expands round the mouth. Filling but light on its feet too with gently mouthwatering acidity alongside chalkiness, flint, iron, blood orange, slate and tobacco spice. The texture and persistence is lovely. Great quality. 3.6pH. A yield of 20hl/ha.

Ripe plum, raspberry, damson, sage, tobacco, slate, juicy and appealing, lots of textural elements that keep you engaged, acidity in check, this is an excellent quality Marsau that is easy to recommend. A tiny yield of 20hl/ha, after just 40mm of rain from mid June right through to end of August. Harvest September 11 to 19, early for this sector but in line with the vintage. 50hl cement vats in winery since 2024 to do plot-by-plot vinification, careful hands off extraction, ageing is 30% in cement and the rest in neutral casks. 3.6ph, this is a very regular level at this estate.

    Yves Beck

Complex, the bouquet of Marsau 2025 reveals floral and chalky nuances along with a hint of black berries. The creamy texture on the attack paves the way for a wine of good density. Its juicy tannins deliver both energy and freshness, echoed by the acidic structure. A flavorful wine that can already be enjoyed in its youth.

    Description

The precision and richness of a Francs Côtes de Bordeaux wine

    The estate

Established in the heart of the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, east of Saint-Émilion, Château Marsau was taken over in 2017 by Anne-Laurence and Mathieu Chadronnier.

    The vineyard

Rooted in the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, the Château Marsau vineyard spans 12 hectares of hillsides with clay-limestone soils. This distinctive geology, combined with a favourable orientation of the plots, brings together all the conditions ideal for Merlot to thrive. Farmed using certified organic agriculture, the vineyard sincerely reveals the character of this emblematic terroir of eastern Bordeaux.

    Vinification and ageing

A rigorous selection upstream paves the way for vinification in a newly built cellar, equipped with small concrete vats allowing plot-by-plot work. Ageing takes place entirely in large oak casks, ensuring the preservation of the fruit's purity and a faithful expression of the terroir, without the wood overshadowing the natural qualities of the Merlot.

    Grape variety

    Château Marsau 2025 is a 100% Merlot.
