Oaky and savoury on the nose. Softly fleshy, clean and mineral at the same time - a mixture of ripe and perhaps just-ripe fruit gives this both a sense of purity and linearity as well as fruit concentration and weight. Needs some more time to harmonise but I like the cool blue fruit touches and hints of flint on the end. Nice potential for ageing.

Currants, sliced chilis, dried flowers and orange peel on the nose. It’s creamy and nicely integrated with a medium body and fine, medium-firm tannins. Silky and pretty. Try from 2024.

The 2021 Puyblanquet has a high-toned, floral bouquet with violet petals infusing the red berry fruit, hints of mandarin in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasant sappiness on the entry, fine acidity and a minerally finish that lingers in the mouth. This is a solid effort in a tricky growing season

Deeply intense on the nose, with dark, heady aromas of black fruit wrapped in folds of black velvet, underscored by hints of juniper berry and clove. On the palate, the terroir shines through in the wine’s crystalline freshness and lifted notes. Juicy black fruit emerges on the finish. Simply breathtaking!

So much freshness and energy in Puyblanquet’s bouquet! Inviting hints of red berries, paired with notes of liquorice and gentle spices, make you want to taste the wine. Dark, intense, purple colour. The nose is somewhat discreet, with fruity notes and a touch of truffle. Full on entry, savoury through the mid-palate, the wine develops with a lovely flow into a sappy, fresh and long finish that stands out for its savouriness. Blend: 75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol content: 13.4% - pH: 3.53.
