Description
The roundness and indulgence of a great Saint-Émilion wine
The estate
The Château Quinault l’Enclos is located on Bordeaux’s Right Bank in the Saint-Émilion appellation. Belonging to the renowned Château Cheval Blanc, a Premier Grand Cru Classé A of Saint-Émilion, the wines of Château Quinault l’Enclos receive the same care as those of Château Cheval Blanc.
The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Quinault l’Enclos covers 19 hectares of vines. It lies close to the Dordogne River, in the Saint-Émilion appellation.
The vintage
Bud break was relatively early following a mild winter. Flowering was not affected by the rainy first ten days of June. This was followed by a dry, hot period leading to a rapid and early maturation.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvest from September 11 to 27. Vinification carried out by the Cheval Blanc team. Plot-by-plot vinification. Native yeasts. Gentle extraction. Extended maceration. Manual pump-overs and malolactic fermentation in tank. 12 months of ageing with quarterly rackings in 500-litre new barrels (40%), one-wine barrels (40%), and large oak vats (20%).
Blend
Merlot (74%), Cabernet Sauvignon (14%), Cabernet Franc (6%).
Tasting characteristics and recommendations for Château Quinault l'Enclos 2019
Tasting
Color
Beautiful deep red color.
Nose
Lush, the nose combines red and black fruit notes with pastry notes of vanilla, caramel, and coffee.
Palate
The attack is smooth, full, indulgent, and rich with a fine grain of tannins, leading to a tender and creamy mid-palate. Decidedly seductive, the palate stretches to an enveloping and persistent finish.
