    Decanter

Really ripe and fragrant with some dried herbal accents. Lovely grip on the palate, filling tannins but really fresh and juicy giving a cool, minty, wet stone and blueberry aspect. Quite a crushed stone, chalky powdery texture, but it’s soft and not harsh at all. Has all the markings of a lovely wine and the tannins will soften over ageing. I like it. 4% Petit Verdot completes the blend.

Smoke, licorice, espresso beans, cocoa, and tobacco leaves create the perfume. On the palate, the wine is soft, round, fruity, fresh, and vibrant. The sweet berries with their enticing, zesty, creamy, and refreshing character really works here. Drink from 2029-2055. 94-96 Pts

Lovely wine, attractive with lift and bright fruits, great quality, sappy, a lot of slate and pumice stone, roasted coffee beans, intense and concentrated, plenty of ageing ability. Yield 20 hl/ha.

    Jean-Marc Quarin

Deep, almost black colour. Intense, refined nose, fruity, pure and deep. Smooth when the glass is swirled. Broad on the attack, rich on the mid-palate in a Pauillac style, full-bodied yet deep; the wine moves forward, powerful and complex, supported by tannins that are both silky and enveloping. Astonishingly long finish. A blend of rare, fully realised sensations. I must admit I kept the sample chilled to enjoy it a little more the next day. Congratulations and thank you! Blend: 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. Alcohol: 13% – pH = 3.68. Yield = 20 hl/ha.

    Description

Tasting notes and recommendations for Château Saint-Pierre 2025

    Tasting

    Appearance

The wine displays a deep, almost black red color, adorned with particularly intense purple highlights.

    Nose

The aromatic bouquet is very intense, opening with generous notes of ripe fruit and blackcurrant. It then gains further complexity with hints of spice, cachou, licorice, and tobacco.

    Palate

The attack is smooth and velvety, introducing a rich and full-bodied texture. The tannins, remarkably rich and beautifully integrated, support a perfectly balanced structure. The whole reveals a magnificent harmony between power and elegance, leading into an explosive, complex finish with remarkable persistence.

    Food and wine pairings

This great red wine pairs wonderfully with richly flavored meats. It will elevate herb-roasted beef tenderloin, a rack of lamb seasoned with thyme and rosemary, or a flavorful venison stew in sauce.

    Serving and cellaring

With its exceptional structure, this Château Saint-Pierre 2025 can already be enjoyed to appreciate the brilliance of its fruit, yet it also has the depth required for cellaring over several decades.

The elegance and power of a great Saint-Julien growth

    The estate

The Château Saint-Pierre, founded in 1693, is a historic wine estate located in Saint-Julien. The vineyard covers 17 hectares and has been classified as a Fourth Growth since 1855. After being divided, it was reunited in 1982 by Henri Martin and is now managed by the Triaud family. What distinguishes Château Saint-Pierre is its historical continuity, its traditional Médoc architecture, and its prestigious classification, making it a pillar of the elite of Bordeaux growths.

    The vineyard

Located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, the terroir is based on typical Garonne gravel, with a subsoil composed of clay, limestone, and sand. The vines, averaging over fifty years of age, are planted at a high density of 10,000 vines per hectare. Vineyard work is carried out with great care and respect for biodiversity, and harvesting is performed entirely by hand to ensure optimal berry selection.

    The vintage

The year began with a mild and relatively dry winter, followed by a warm and dry early season, greatly limiting mildew pressure. Flowering took place under excellent conditions. Veraison was early, finishing by the end of July. August, particularly hot, accelerated grape ripening, while some welcome rainfall at the end of the month helped maintain good water balance. The harvest, very early and under bright sunshine, took place from September 10 to 19, 2025, yielding very low outputs of 20 hl/ha.

    Winemaking and aging

The wine then undergoes careful aging, with 60% in new oak barrels, to refine its structure and develop its complexity. Alcohol content: 13.37% vol.

    Grape varieties

This Château Saint-Pierre 2025 is a blend of 78% cabernet sauvignon, 15% merlot, 4% cabernet franc, and 3% petit verdot.
