    Vinum

Dark-fruited, with herbs and black cherries, blackberries, black tea; a fresh, fruity palate, the tannins don’t overwhelm, crisp, dense, with drive and an enjoyable length. Well done!

The 2022 Sénéjac has turned out very well and looks to be the best wine this estate has produced since 2009. Offering up aromas of sweet minty cassis, petals and pencil shavings, it's medium-bodied, velvety and seamless, with a fresh core of fruit and a flavorful finish.

    Decanter

Clean and mineral, this is quite serious with a dark, rich layer of black fruits with liquorice, flint and graphite. I like the sleek, cool suaveness of it; it's not shouting but is really well worked. More of a serious, less acidic style, yet still vibrant and supple, well balanced and well presented. Round, softly juicy with bite. Harvest 12–29 September. Yield of 32 hl/ha. Aged in French oak for 15 months, 30% new. 6% Petit Verdot completes the blend.

The 2022 Senejac captures all the best the year had to offer. Ripe and fleshy yet also quite vibrant, the 2022 impresses with its balance. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, licorice, spice, menthol and mocha fill out the layers as the wine builds into a long, beautifully sustained finish.

Packed with sweet, ripe blackberries, flowers, and forest leaves, the smell alone says this is a super wine. The palate is up to the task as well, serving up its layers of black currants and black raspberries in a round, juicy, sweet, fruity, creamy-textured finish. The wine blends 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot. 13.5% ABV. Drink from 2025–2040.

A lovely vintage of Senejac, with plummy dark fruits, luscious cocoa bean and espresso, hints of rosemary and sage, good stuff. Eric Boissenot consultant, Bignon-Cordier family owners.

    Le Figaro Vin

Restless like a spirited horse, the bouquet combines scents of purple flowers with the intense juiciness of blackberry and blackcurrant that stain the fingers. The palate is juicy and mouthwatering, a true ode to the tangy brightness of small berries before a finish reminiscent of café au lait. A wine already in fine form.

    Yves Beck

Beautiful and refreshing fruity expression with aromas of red and black berries complemented by brown tobacco leaves and a saline touch. Slightly luscious on the attack, the wine is compact and supported by fine-grained tannins that provide vigor and freshness. A pleasant, vigorous wine that combines elegance and character and calls for a little patience to fully open up.

    Terre de Vins

The nose suggests a certain concentration and density, with ripe fruit and subtly toasty notes. The palate confirms this, fairly athletic, built on a firm, rigorous yet integrated tannic structure. The richness is contained and supported by a licorice-tinged cushion that lends an extra touch of freshness.

    Description

The finesse and smoothness of an Haut-Médoc wine

    The estate

The first vines of Château Sénéjac were planted in the 16th century. This estate has belonged to the Bignon-Cordier family since 1999 and is a very important name in the Haut-Médoc appellation.

    The vineyard

A truly green setting for biodiversity, Château Sénéjac is an Haut-Médoc wine from a 37.2 hectare vineyard. The vines are 35 years old on average and are planted on Pyrenean gravel soils deposited during the Quaternary period on the clay-gravel hillside of Pian-Médoc. These gravelly soils ensure effective drainage of the soil and help to regulate the water stress suffered by the vines in the event of a lack of water reserves.

    Winemaking and ageing

Manual and mechanical harvesting, with sorting afterwards. Vinification in stainless steel vats. The wine was aged for 15 months in barrels, 30% of which were new.

    Blend

This Château Sénéjac 2022 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (47%), Merlot (34%), Cabernet Franc (13%) and Petit Verdot (6%).
