Château Siaurac 2021

Luminous ruby. Floral, red-fruited, resinous notes, blood orange. Soft attack, then quickly gripping, with bite and elegance, finishing on a stimulating bitterness.

Creamy and cool, with touches of softly juicy blueberry alongside vanilla, liquorice and cola edges, as well as a salty tang on the finish. Smooth and gentle, a nice delicate frame with some fruit concentration and length.

Fresh red cherries, plums and berries on the nose. This is a leaner and simpler expression despite the nice juiciness on the mid-palate. Fine-grained, with moderate length. Drink now through to 2026.

Lots of oak and chocolate to get through before reaching the flowers and black cherries on the nose. The palate is soft, fresh, polished, fruity, and chocolatey, with a dash of black pepper that pops in at the end of the finish. Drink from 2024–2032.

Juicy, nuanced, with smoked earth and crushed stone, this has cool, bright yet well-textured berry fruits; it’s mouthwatering and well put together. Now under the same group as Calon-Ségur in St Estèphe.

A blend of 74% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Malbec, the 2021 Siaurac is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It has subtle notes of Bing cherries and boysenberries, plus wafts of lavender and underbrush. Medium-bodied, the palate is a little lean and chewy, with a savory finish.

The nose is quite subtle and delicate, while on the palate the fruit gains confidence and asserts itself in a fresh, lively texture, with notes of raspberry, cherry and redcurrant.

Siaurac reveals itself in a discreet yet detailed and clear way. Freshness, coupled with floral notes, ensures elegance. On the palate, the wine mirrors the bouquet: subtle, fine, and elegant. Only the finish needs to round out a little. Some time in the cellar will take care of that. A fine success.

The wine shows a medium-intensity ruby color. The nose is precise and fresh, with tangy fruit. It reveals notes of juicy Morello cherry, crushed blackcurrant, red cherry and raspberry, joined by a smoky touch (emerging on the second nose), toasted wood (in the background), coffee, chocolate, as well as sweet spices (ground cumin, white pepper, licorice), violet, and a hint of dried mint. The palate is seamless and silky, with a juicy, enveloping attack. It first delivers flavors of juicy fruit (Morello cherry, wild strawberry, black plum, blackcurrant, crushed raspberry), complemented by a touch of dark chocolate, chocolate-covered cherry, a pleasant coffee bitterness, a toasty hint, and a delicate spicy edge (licorice, background vanilla, ground cumin) on the finish. The tannins are supple, plush, and very fine-grained. The finish is persistent, sapid and chocolatey, with bright acidity and a refreshing note of Morello cherry juice. A harmonious, fresh and delectable wine.

We must applaud the fine success of this 2021. The domaine has gained in definition and precision, with a subtle adjustment of the élevage. While preserving the depth of the cru, we enjoy a Lalande that is tasty, precise, and elongated.
