    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Clos de la Lune Rouge 2025

    Tasting

    Appearance
This wine reveals an intense red colour, enhanced by deep, sustained highlights.

    Nose
Particularly expressive and full of elegance, the aromatic bouquet opens on scents of blackberries before revealing subtle hints of sweet spices, notably reminiscent of nutmeg.

    Palate
The attack is both generous and supple. On the palate, the roundness brought by Grenache pairs perfectly with the backbone of Syrah, unveiling remarkably silky tannins. The whole offers an ample texture, full of freshness and harmony, extending towards a delicately spiced finish.

    Food and wine pairings
This cuvée is a wonderful match for red meats seared on the grill or lightly pan-fried, as well as Mediterranean recipes with spicy accents. It can also be enjoyed in a more relaxed setting as part of an aperitif.

    Serving and cellaring
It is recommended to serve Clos de la Lune Rouge 2025 at a temperature between 14 and 16°C. Ready to be savoured in its youth to fully enjoy the vibrancy of its fruit, this wine has a cellaring potential of up to around 2030. Over time, its aromatic profile will evolve towards notes of spices, blackberry jam and leather.

The authentic expression of a great Côtes de Provence terroir

    The estate
Located in Cogolin, in the heart of the Var in Provence, the estate thrives between the Mediterranean Sea and the Massif des Maures. This modern property, chaired by Gérard Hérisson since March 2025, stands out for a strong identity linked to the lunar cycles. As a singular brand, Clos de la Lune draws its inspiration from the balance between the earth, maritime influences and the cosmos. The estate produces wines that reflect the authenticity of its terroir, while embracing an approach that respects its natural environment.

    The vineyard
Planted at the locality of La Chêneraie, on the road from Collobrières to Cogolin, the vines benefit from an ideal Mediterranean climate. This terroir, nestled in the Massif des Maures, is composed of schist and quartzite soils, with a few clay-limestone areas on the lower parts. These geological conditions allow the red grape varieties to express themselves with complexity and finesse. The estate complies with the specifications of the Côtes de Provence appellation, involving strict agroecological practices, short pruning, regulated planting density and a ban on total chemical weeding, thereby promoting soil health.

    Winemaking and aging
To craft Clos de la Lune Rouge 2025, the berries undergo co-fermentation in order to harmonise the structure and aromatic profile from the earliest stages. Extraction is carried out gently through light pump-overs, performed twice a day for five days, then reduced to once daily over the following four days. Devatting takes place before fermentation is fully completed, in order to preserve a vivid and radiant fruit. Malolactic fermentation then follows, and the wine is finally bottled after an extremely light filtration.
