Description
The elegance and finesse of a Pomerol wine
The estate
Founded in 1924 by Jean-Baptiste Audy, Clos du Clocher has remained in family hands to this day, currently managed by the Bourotte family, direct heirs of its founder. This estate, located on the right bank of Bordeaux, takes its name from its privileged setting, nestled near the iconic church of Pomerol.
The vineyard
Set in the heart of the prestigious Pomerol plateau, the vineyard covers 5.76 hectares. With an average vine age of 37 years, the vines draw their roots from a remarkable range of soils, combining blue clay, gravel and clay. This geological diversity is the source of the aromatic richness and complexity that define the wine.
Winemaking & Ageing
The grapes, hand-harvested, undergo meticulous sorting before being vinified plot by plot in concrete and stainless steel vats. Less than 5% of the harvest is vinified directly in barrels. Malolactic fermentation is carried out for less than 10% of the harvest. Ageing takes place over 18 months in French oak barrels, with 56% new wood and 34% one-year-old barrels, complemented by small vessels accounting for 5% glass and 5% concrete.
Blend
Clos du Clocher 2025 is a blend of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc.
