    Description

A Charming Pomerol Wine with Light Tannins

    The Estate

With very ancient origins, the Clos René was formerly named "Reney" on the map of the engineer-geographer Pierre de Belleyme. The estate has been in the hands of the same family for several generations. It is now managed by Jean-Marie Garde.

    The Vineyard

Clos René is a Pomerol wine from a 15-hectare vineyard. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are planted on soils composed of gravel and sand and on a subsoil of iron slag. The estate benefits from a blend of 75% merlot, 20% cabernet franc, and 5% malbec.

    Vinification and Aging

The aging of this Clos René 2016 is carried out in oak barrels for 18 months.

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Clos René 2016

    Tasting

Quite discreet on the nose, this 2016 vintage reveals light tannins and delicious hints of black fruits (blackberries, blueberries) on the palate. On the finish, the oak is superbly integrated and one can notice subtle notes of truffles.

    Cellaring

This wine can be cellared until around 2027.
