    Vertdevin

The nose is spicy, straightforward and racy. It reveals notes of smoke and clove, with subtler hints of cornflower, along with touches of nutmeg, a hint of blackberry and wild strawberry, as well as discreet touches of spice. It also shows a hint of blackcurrant, fairly ripe cherry, a touch of sweet tobacco and Cubeb pepper. The palate is fruity and juicy, offering a tangy backbone, energy, good definition, a certain juiciness and accuracy, fine linearity and tension in the tannic framework. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackcurrant and purple plum, with lighter hints of cornflower, together with touches of vibrant cherry and crushed redcurrant, as well as notes of cinnamon, clove and smoke. Good length.

    Description

An exceptional Pomerol wine from a historic Bordeaux terroir

    The estate

Created in the 18th century and mentioned as early as 1734 under the name "Reney", Clos René is located on the Pomerol plateau. Today run by Jean-Marie Garde, heir to a century-old family lineage, the estate cultivates according to traditional methods in sustainable viticulture, combining respect for the terroir with a commitment to quality.

    The vineyard

Covering 16 hectares, the vineyard of Clos René benefits from an exceptional Pomerol terroir, composed of Quaternary gravel and ancient sands resting on an iron pan subsoil. This particular soil lends the wines their unique character and ageing potential. The vines, averaging 45 years of age, are managed according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, respecting the natural balance of this exceptional terroir.

    Winemaking and aging

Winemaking takes place in temperature-controlled cement tanks. Aging is carried out over 18 months in medium-toast French oak barrels from Allier, with 30% of the barrels renewed each year. This approach allows a harmonious integration of oak while preserving the expression of the terroir.

    Blend

The 2024 Clos René is the result of a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.
