Description
An exceptional gift set revealing the diversity of three grape varieties from Bas-Armagnac
Maison Delord, a family tradition since 1893
Founded in 1893 by Prosper Delord, an itinerant distiller, this family Armagnac house settled permanently in Lannepax in 1925. Located in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, the appellation’s premier cru, Delord cultivates 55 hectares of vineyards planted with Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Folle Blanche and Baco. Now run by Jérôme and Sylvain Delord, the fourth generation, the company stands out for its unique dual distillation method and its cellars housing more than 1,400 casks, with vintages dating back to 1904.
The Coffret Cépages Armagnacais, an exceptional selection
This unique set highlights the typical character of three emblematic grape varieties of AOC Armagnac: Baco, Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche. Among the ten grape varieties authorized by the appellation, these three, together with Colombard, make up the region’s four main varieties. This exceptional selection showcases the decisive influence of the grape variety on the final character of Armagnac.
A scientific approach in the service of tasting
The uniqueness of this Coffret Cépages Armagnacais lies in its rigorous selection method. All production parameters were standardized: the same 2018 vintage, the same Orthès-type still, the same cooper, Bartholomo, the same South-Western oak origin, the same medium toast level, the same aging cellar and the same maturation period of 25 months in new casks. This approach isolates the impact of the grape variety and offers a unique comparative tasting experience, revealing the aromatic nuances specific to each variety.
