An authentic and harmonious Bas-Armagnac VSOP from the Gers

    Maison Delord, a Bas-Armagnac benchmark since 1893

Founded in 1893 by Prosper Delord, a travelling distiller, this family estate in Bas-Armagnac is located in Lannepax in the Gers. Nowadays run by Jérôme and Sylvain Delord (fourth generation), the company cultivates 55 hectares planted with ugni blanc, colombard, baco and folle blanche. Delord stands out with its unique dual technical expertise: traditional continuous distillation and double distillation, greatly enriching its Armagnac production. The ageing takes place in 1,400 French oak barrels. In 2020, the acquisition of the Galaubas estate marked its entry into organic Armagnac, confirming this Bas-Armagnac reference’s commitment to respectful innovation.

The traditional production of Delord VSOP

This Bas-Armagnac VSOP results from a Blend of eaux-de-vie made from the traditional grape varieties: ugni blanc, colombard, baco and folle blanche. The traditional vinification aims to obtain an aromatic, slightly acidic and low-alcohol wine, an ideal base for distillation.

The distillation combines Armagnacs from column stills equipped with “spider” plates and those from double distillation. This dual technical expertise, unique to Delord, greatly enriches the aromatic complexity of the final product.

The ageing begins in new French oak barrels with medium toasting, then continues in “semi-used” or “used” casks, allowing a harmonious development of the aromas over a minimum period of 6 years.
