    Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for the Réservée 2023 cuvée from Domaine André Brunel

    Tasting

    Nose

The nose opens with a beautiful expression of red fruit, dominated by notes of strawberry and raspberry. A peppery length then extends these fruity aromas, bringing an overall spicy dimension.

    Palate

On the palate, this wine reveals harmonious, elegant tannins that provide a particularly refined, silky texture. After five years of cellaring, the aromatic profile evolves toward notes of leather and undergrowth, while the finish gains in elegance and persistence.

    Food and wine pairings

This Réservée 2023 will ideally accompany your red meats and game dishes, whose flavors it will enhance beautifully.

    Serving and cellaring

This wine can be enjoyed in its youth to take advantage of the freshness of its red fruit. Its aging potential is fully revealed after a minimum of five years and reaches its peak around ten years, i.e., until about 2033.

An elegant, structured Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the Vallée du Rhône

    The estate

Officially established in 1954 by Lucien Brunel, Domaine André Brunel has been growing vines in the Vallée du Rhône since the 17th century. Under the direction of Fabrice Brunel, the estate now manages 90 hectares spread across Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône and Vin de Pays de Vaucluse. A pioneer of sustainable viticulture in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, André Brunel was among the first to practice cover cropping and to abandon chemical products.

    The vineyard

The vines for this cuvée, averaging 40 years of age, are grown on two distinct types of terroirs in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Grenache thrives on sandy soils that give it roundness and fruity expression, while Syrah is planted on rounded pebbles that bring power and tannic structure. Harvesting is carried out exclusively by hand, with a controlled yield of 35 hl/ha.

    Vinification and aging

Vinification of this Réservée 2023 cuvée begins with complete destemming of the grapes, followed by daily pump-overs for four weeks. Aging then takes place for a minimum of twelve months in tank, with no time in barrel, thus preserving the purity and freshness of the fruit.

    Grape varieties

    Grenache (40%), Syrah (40%), Mourvèdre (20%).
