    Decanter

Another vintage that was challenging for the reds but a success in the whites. The aromatics jump out of the glass, and this feels like it’s already primed to give lots of pleasure. It will continue to develop but can be enjoyed today. There's some Sauvignon character, more evident here than in any other vintage, but the minerality then comes through and a vice-like grip heightens the drama and tension.

Even though it's still a baby, the wine easily serves up all the fresh, crisp pomelo, citrus, grapefruit, lemon peel, rocks, stones and honeysuckle you could want. Richly textured, with true purity of fruit and loads of freshness, the wine leaves you with ripe, vibrant, crisp fruits that linger and refresh. As you can see, this drinks well young, and yet it will also have the ability to age and evolve for decades.

Fresh, pure nose of flowers, quince, pear and citrus with discreet oaky notes. The palate is rich and opulent with elegant fruit, yet it retains a solid backbone of freshness and acidity; very long, powerful finish with excellent purity and potential.

    René Gabriel

Medium yellow with linden-green nuances, bright. The most delicate and layered bouquet of all the white wines tasted from this appellation, with delicate mint notes, white nectarines, conveying a clear, pure fruit profile. Sublime palate, almost delicate in feel, gorgeous lime tones within a finely woven extract, elegant finish. Shows a regal extra class and surpasses all others.

Fresh, medium-intensity bouquet, peach, apricot skin, lemon balm, fine vanilla. Silky, elegant palate with delicate fruit, subtle acidity, good aromatics, long finish. 18/20 2020 - 2035

Complex aroma, slightly musky, very classy overall, long, saline, intense, a perfect expression of the vintage and the estate.

    La RVF

It’s beginning to show flinty, gunpowder notes almost reminiscent of a Chablis. Very noble on the palate, with refined texture in a taut style and a fine acidity on the finish, in the Chevalier style.

    Le Figaro Vin

A tangy, fresh wine, very Sauvignon at the moment, but with lovely length and great density—truly classy. Excellent ageing potential, as usual.

    Yves Beck

Pale yellow with greenish highlights. A dense bouquet that ideally combines power and finesse, with notes of honey and citrus. Spices are also present, with hints of saffron. Mineral notes, mint, grapefruit. On the palate, the wine stands out with fine acidity and intense fruit. The wine shows pedigree and, above all, depth, with fruit that unfolds all the way through the finish. A great wine that needs time to blossom. Long finish. Patience.

Pale color. Fruity nose with a touch of candied white fruit. A very lovely, caressing entry on the palate, then the wine unfolds delicately silky, very fruity, with a melting body and complex flavors. Long, very fresh finish with a backdrop of candied lemon. A delicious and distinctive wine.

This is a beautiful wine, fresh with acidity and structured with a mineral texture. Layers of creamy citrus and white fruit flavors go along with touches of wood aging that are well integrated. It's a wine to drink for its freshness soon, although it will also benefit from several years aging. It will be best from 2018.

    Description

The richness and complexity of a fine Pessac-Léognan white wine

    The producer

Owned by the Bernard family since 1983, the beautiful Domaine de Chevalier is one of the finest Bordeaux Crus Classés. Like a secret garden, this iconic vineyard located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, to the south of Bordeaux, is surrounded by a green haven.

    The vineyard

Domaine de Chevalier watches over a rare vineyard comprising 5 hectares of white vines. A true patchwork of terroirs, the Domaine de Chevalier vineyard is composed of black sand and fine white gravel soil and rests on a perfectly drained clay-gravel subsoil.

    The vinification and ageing

The grapes are harvested by hand, followed by successive selections based on their ripeness level. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out in barrels, as is the 18-month ageing period (1/3 new barrels), with regular stirring of the lees.

    The blend

The 2013 Domaine de Chevalier dry white wine comprises a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (70%) and Semillon (30%).

    The tasting

    Colour

Bright, this wine is a pale gold colour with subtle green highlights.

    Nose

Explosive, the nose exudes citrus and fresh fruit fragrances (vine peach, exotic fruit) with a delicious minerality.

    Palate

The palate harmoniously combines both tension and intensity with a delicious and refreshing fruity expression.

    Storage

This fine Pessac-Léognan white wine can be kept in the cellar until around 2030 in order to reveal its full aromatic richness.
