The singular expression of a great Tavel terroir by Domaine de la Mordorée

    The estate

Founded in 1986 by Francis Delorme in Tavel, Domaine de la Mordorée is a benchmark in the Rhône Valley. Initially spread over five hectares, the vineyard developed under the impetus of Christophe Delorme, propelling the estate to international renown. Since 2016, his daughter Ambre Delorme and his widow Madeleine have run the estate with a vision centred on respect for the environment. Certified organic and biodynamic, the estate produces authentic wines reflecting a love of the land and the richness of their terroirs.

    The vineyard

The Tavel terroir from which this cuvée originates is characterised by a hot, dry Mediterranean climate, swept by the mistral. The vines thrive on complex soils composed of rolled quartzite pebbles, which store heat, as well as clay and limestone that promote water retention. The vineyard is managed according to strict biodynamic principles, with severe pruning and green harvesting to limit yields and concentrate the grapes' matter.

    The vintage

The year 2023 fits within a typical Mediterranean climate, hot and dry, cooled by the mistral. Described by the estate as intense and promising, this vintage achieved optimal phenolic ripeness. Harvesting began at the end of August, ensuring healthy, concentrated berries.

    Winemaking and aging

The winemaking of La Plume du Peintre Tavel Rosé 2023 stands out for its extended maceration, allowing colour and phenolic compounds to be extracted from the skins. Aging is then carried out entirely in barrels, skilfully combining neutral vessels and new oak to preserve the freshness of the fruit and the identity of the terroir without marking the wine with excessive oakiness.
