    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2023 Domaine de la Vougeraie

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a delicate pale gold hue, enhanced by subtle green highlights.

    Nose
The nose opens with an expressive bouquet of citrus fruits, blending candied lemon and clementine, harmoniously rounded out by notes of white flowers and a mineral imprint reminiscent of its limestone terroir.

    Palate
On the palate, this white wine combines a rich, full-bodied texture with perfect balance, without any heaviness. The finish stands out for its saline, mineral character, offering remarkable aromatic persistence.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This great white wine from France pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, pike soufflé or capon braised in white wine. It will also enhance scallops, crayfish or dishes showcasing mushrooms and truffle.

    Service and Storage

To fully appreciate this Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of between 12 and 14°C, without prior decanting, in order to preserve its aromatic delicacy. This wine can be enjoyed in its youth but will continue to evolve favourably until around 2035, or even beyond under optimal storage conditions.

    Other Characteristics

This wine has an alcohol content of 13%, a balance achieved naturally thanks to ideal berry ripeness, without any recourse to chaptalisation.

The Elegance and Mineral Purity of a Great White Burgundy

    The Estate

Officially founded in 1999, Domaine de la Vougeraie is the result of the vision of the Boisset family, whose winemaking history began in 1961. Located in Premeaux-Prissey, this estate in Burgundy is now run by Nathalie and Jean-Charles Boisset, its current owners. The estate oversees a vineyard of around 34 hectares spread across the prestigious Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Renowned for its excellence, the estate stands out for its deep commitment to biodynamics, cultivating exceptional terroirs to produce authentic wines that respect nature.

    The Vineyard

The Bâtard-Montrachet plot covers 46 ares and was planted in 1977. Facing the rising sun, these old vines thrive on clay-limestone soils rich in stony debris, promoting optimal drainage and a pure mineral expression. The vineyard has been farmed according to biodynamic principles since 2001, with rigorous yield control through green harvesting, ensuring optimal fruit concentration.

    The Vintage

The year 2023 benefited from highly favourable weather conditions, allowing for an ideal growing cycle. The particularly early harvest began at the end of August under mild weather, yielding perfectly healthy grapes with optimal ripeness, free from any fungal pressure.

    Winemaking and Aging

The grapes are hand-harvested before undergoing gentle pneumatic pressing as whole clusters for two and a half hours. After around twelve hours of settling, the must ferments naturally. This Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2023 is aged for 16 months in oak barrels (approximately 28 to 30% new oak), followed by a further two months in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness, before bottling timed according to the lunar calendar.
